  • Suzuki Katana: The likely revival of the age-old warrior at INTERMOT

Suzuki UK posted a video on their Youtube channel which might be a hint towards a motorcycle they might unveil at INTERMOT in October. And all the signs and all the hints lead to one name: Suzuki Katana. They have also recently trademarked the name in the US. Another interesting fact is them partnering with custom bike builder on resto-mod versions of the GSX1100. So is there really a new Katana coming from Suzuki?

Now reviving something like Katana, would be a great move. The bike has everything like a rich history and a design that with few tweaks would still be a fresh concept today. Not to mention the following it has. So, the revival of the Katana might very well be the big win that the company needs at the moment. The sign shown in the video means “Slash” in Japanese. The breadcrumb trail has been picked up on and one would want to stick their neck out and assure that it’s a new Katana. What drives us away from it is the rough explanation of the signs. The sign explained above is only the half of it. The full sign means something else. The added character in the above sign means innovation or a change of direction. Oh well, what can we say, Katana or not, there is something coming from Suzuki.

Suzuki also has quite a few new models coming out in 2019 that might debut at the INTERMOT 2018. Suzuki GSX-R750, GSX-R600 and a new Hayabusa are a few of them.

That bike, with a short-stroke version of the Bandit's motor or a smaller 'Busa engine, would be an interesting bike indeed, and a fun replacement for the departed B-King.
