How much of this new tech will trickle down to sub-300cc motorcycles for India.

Trickle down concept I agree with you. But to say "we don't need these motorcycles" is a slightly OTT statement.

Nice but expensive as well. Wonder they the exhausts are so bulky, they dominate the rear profile.

The exhaust is bulky to comply with EURO 4 norms. They offer a custom yoshimura which I think looks neat. The gsxr has always had a monster engine and they
have a reputation of having real ponies.Other japs would quote a hp figure at crank but the you would get far less at rear wheel, but not the suzuki's.
The 2017 model has a novel but 'simple' implementation of VVT tech and I read that the engine carries on the Suzuki tradition of monster engines.
I was at a dealer in Salisbury which was offering test rides of the entire Suzuki range. Needless to say everyone wanted to ride the new gsxr.Given the long queue(and also because of my apprehension of being able to control a 200bhp bike ) I gave it a pass and only test rode the GSXS1000. A super choppy throttle at low rpms aside(I stalled 3-4 times before taking off..) it was awesome..

The fireblade is according to MCN https://youtu.be/SJFszDt8ouo this is based on track ,road and all sorts of conditions. The gsxr has the best torque and I'd say it and the fireblade are at the top .

They themselves said Gsxr is good on road in btw while sitting and giving review.

But fireblade came from nowhere, go through the comments below that video most of them mentioning that review to be biased and i too think the Same!

The fireblade has been mentioned cramped by many.

My words are not alone from Mcn, but after watching lots of other reviews and motovlogs!

They're only biased when your favorite motorcycle doesn't win a shootout. A lot of Suzuki fans moaning in the comment section does not invalidate the result of the best roadbike in the litre class given that there were 6 bikes and 6 different riders whose scores tallied up at the end.
A heavy John McGuinness has proved his point with how road friendly the Blade is that has carried him onto so many wins over those years.

2015 the R1 took the honors because it was all new. Last year Panigale 1299 took the honours. Both years the Kawasaki fans were crying foul because well the ZX10R was the WSBK champion. Doesn't mean either of those bikes didn't deserve the top honours.

Note: Neither the TT nor the WSB championship indicates any performance merits of the stock bike except for the riding position.

I like the looks of the new blade and it must be a great motorcycle, but for some reason this mcn shootout video didn't mention the hp figure from the dyno run for the blade. Or did I miss it?

I saw this video 10 times, I think.
They did show it in the chart somewhere. Its around 10 HP down on all of these. So all of these are around 188-192 BHP at the rear wheel.
Blade was 178 BHP at the rear wheel. What they did not mention was the weight of the blade. They did however mention it was one of the lightest.
Although I think it is the lightest at 195 KGs wet. They said Ducati was 2nd lightest 196 KGs.

The only grouse I have with the new blade is that all reviews say how tiny they have made the front end, which results in more wind drag.
For mostly road/highway users like us, this might not be a very good thing especially since blade was always considered a very good road package.
Although it still continues to be one, except for this one thing.

Ok so what I thought is indeed right. It is the 'least' powerful bike and hence the hp figure was not mentioned by the reviewers. Although the fact that 178 hp is coming in last just goes to show how foolish this hp race has become. I personally think anything over 150 is useless, well at least for 99% of the time. Besides the blade was never known for peak numbers. What made it special was the nimbleness(although the 2005-06 bike was porkiest of all litres so that was an aberration) and the meaty midrange. So it made the most power where most people spent most time on the road. What makes me sad is that the reviewers had to give it to the blade clearly under pressure from the accountants. We all know the hondas are sometimes low on power but always high on advertisement revenue. It is almost as if they were saying look we can't do anything we gotta give it to it
Btw I will always be a fan of the blade. They somehow appeal to me despite people calling it bland and boring or whatever. Think the 2006-07 blade was the 2nd most sexy Japanese bike ever built-the sexiest being the 2003 Yamaha R1

I agree with you. As much as I love MCN, even I felt that this review was sort of biased. I am not undermining the blade in anyway. If I had the moolah, it would have been among my top 2 picks and I might have just ended up buying it just because of after sales here.

This is my opinion of all the readings I have done. This is my opinion and I might not have actual facts to prove everything.
I think the blade scores over the BMW in the suspension department. It is newer generation of Ohlins (probably), and in addition to auto adjusting, it allows for a fixed setting as well. The BMW is always self adjusting, according to the setting you have chosen like Track, Street, Race etc. What I read somewhere is that sometimes when you are riding slow on the BMW, and even if it is in the track setting, the suspension softens making it lazier to turn. Not that it matters on our streets atleast, but I think you can get around this on the Honda because you can just say Track and the suspension will stay at Track setting. Plus fiddling with the Honda's suspension might be easier because of how they implemented it.

This new blade will be every bit as accomplished as others on the race track or street in terms of speed and accuracy. What it might lack is a bit of drama which the R1, new GSXR, BMW has. I am not saying it is bad. It takes great engineering to achieve how Honda makes the blade. Plus the light weight of the blade will help using it to higher levels easier.

I have only 2 grouses with it. They shouldn't have made the front fairing too small that it takes away the wind protection considering blades are always know to be good street bikes. Reviewers said, it is deceptively fast. I somewhere would have wanted some drama. On our roads you can not just go fast enough to derive pleasure out of speed. What helps is the drama. But this is something that can be fixed with a Power Commander by tweaking the power delivery according to your liking.

In India, now that the ZX10, Blade and the BMW are very close to each other in terms of pricing it will be tough to choose. The BMW is the star of the drama. The ZX10 is the underdog in my opinion. It is a bike that does it all and is comfortable as well. The blade is also going to be equally desirable for me atleast. Its fit and finish, longevity of parts and general reliability and ease of maintenance is hard to beat plus it has not all the bells and whistles to compete.

I so want to test ride the BMW and the Blade.
