    Default The KTM Chronicles...

As per Monk's suggestion, I'd post pictures from various various small rides around Mumbai on this thread.

    Malshej Ghat :

I understand that Malshej ghat is little more than the ride to the grocery store for most guys here. But what the heck, there is no trip mileage prerequisite for posting a photogue ,so for those who bother to open this thread, here are a few pics from wet and misty weekend Malshej Ghat ride:

The route was Koperkhairane-MIDC gas pipeline road-Murbad(NH222)-Malshej Ghat-Murbad-Kalyan-Thane-Koperkhairane(via Airoli bridge)

    Travelogue Approved

Nice stuff. Why don't you fill this thread with all your small day ride travelogues and pictures. It will be better for the viewer/ reader.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Hi thanks. The NH222 is generally very good barring the rare pothole. So keep an eye for them. But in general it was great to ride on.
But if your are coming from Navi Mumbai and you take the the MIDC gas pipeline road which feeds NH222 at Murbad then it's in bad shape. You can actually take the longer thane -kalyan-NH222 route which is longer but good.
The ghats near malshej are in great condition, so have fun.

    Jawhar :

Did this last weekend. Took the Thane-Bhiwandi-Wada-Vikramgarh-Jawhar route to reach there. Pathetic roads. Absolutely horrific. If you love your bike avoid this route. I didn't know the conditions , so took the shorter route
It was pretty underwhelming overall. I don't think it justifies the 'Mahabaleshwar of Thane' tag, but may be I was late. There was no rain throughout. Dhabosa had reduced to almost a trickle. Was not worth the 17 km torture of a road from Jawhar.
The Hanuman Point and the views from the Jai Vilas palace were great though. The Jaisagar dam lake is nice spot too. You can spend hours there in tranquility.
Btw the Jai Vilas Palace was closed , so another downer. It leaks in the rains so is usually closed from June to October. Didn't know that either!
Didn't do any research before heading out really. Just went out on a lark, at 10 am in the morning trying to make up for a disappointing long weekend.

Return leg was Jawhar-Dahanu road -NH8-Ghodbunder road-Thane. Needless to say, was much better and took me less than 2.5 hours. The dahanu leg had better scenery too.
