This was known from Day 1, we all predicted the idiotic behavior of Yamaha India even! Seriously costs almost same as R15 but comes only with single channel ABS! SHM!

Logically MT15 should cost less than R15 V3 but more than FZ25 so approximately 1.3 lacs INR exshowroom unless Yamaha decides that MT series is superior to the R series

    Remember the R15s v2 which was priced R15s v2==R15 non-s v2, where logically the "s" model should've costed less!

I could see something like that aswell MT15==R15 v3, the same way as seen on pricing of Duke 390 2017==RC390 2017 (admitted naked 390 has more LCD fancy speedometer and LED headlights , but full fared bike has expensive bright projectors and faring parts which are tad bit expensive)
Go on people who called Duke 125 overpriced, laugh out loud now!

I was off by 6000 but then I assumed the only things getting downgraded were the Forks and Tyres. Who knew they would install Dabba swingarms and Single ABS.

It doesnt actually make sense that the price difference between this thing and R15 is only 3350.

How does the total cost of Metal Stay + Aluminium Swingarm + Fairings + Rear ABS CHannel = 3350INR? Somehow I feel like it was probably supposed to be 1.26lakhs but someone made a typo and got it as 1.36lakhs....

Anyways. A disappointment it is. Goodluck to anyone thinking about getting this. Heres a comparo with FZ25

      Parameters FZ25 MT15

True, not justified losing so many components and pay only approx ₹3K less for that! Nail in the coffin mainly losing rear ABS with no extra price difference.

Anyone looking for a naked & upright version of R15 is better of buying the fully faired R15 and do a faring and headlight delete (sell them olx and make upto 6-8K) and use money from selling faring on OLX install those aftermarket projector RE headlights, install handle bar risers or replace the triple clamp to upright one from a suitable bike and you are all set

You'll still endup having ABS on one extra wheel, Aluminium swingarm all at same price and an option to revert it full faired bike again if you ever change your in future

Bro, I need handlebar risers for my P220. Can you print me to the right direction since you mentioned those.

Will they after getting so much negative feedbacks on social media and various forums and even by the vloggers they invited reduce the price? Or even introduce dual channel ABS?
I am still having a hope with Yamaha although they did give me a heartbreak, apologies for the emotions.[emoji26]

Dont mistake r15s for a street bike. Its still a sport bike with an option to make it slightly comfy by sitting close to tank, there by defeating purpose of sports bike.

Mt is more of a comfortable, commute friendly bike with an option to use it as a sporty bike by shifting back. I think it will handle as well as and similar to new d390.

99% people should get mt over r15 imo. But doubt it will happen. V3 looks are too good to consider mt.

                Doubt it.

Its not a gimped bike. Just 8k more expensive than what it should be. Its not carrying chassis /suspension components/weight of a 390cc bike on a pint size engine thanks to economy of scales manufacturing model. Applaud yamaha/honda for this and cb300 for making them as potent as they can.

Not a fanboy (or a rabid one at least) of any brands. Have a ktm myself currently.

Agree its absolutely criminal of yamaha to mess with their fanbase like this, especially considering the hype it was gathering.

Looks like Yamaha has messed around with the gear ratios too, which makes MT15's top end performance dull . R15v3 has a wonderful gear ratio, not sure why Yamaha has to alter it in MT15.

Gear ratios are the same as that for R15.

Secondary reduction ratio has changed since its 52/14 now compared to 48/14 of the R15. So topend has been traded off for Acceleration

Besides MT15 is a StreetFighter. Its not supposed to have topend.

Sorry for my wrong choice of words. Instead of quoting 'Rear sprocket', I wrote gear ratio. For me street fighter/faired sports bike doesn't make any difference, as I will be having only one bike and will be using it for all purposes(office runs, shopping, touring etc..) So, since secondary reduction ratio has been changed, I guess it won't be good for long distance touring, as the top-end performance is sacrificed.

The justified pricing should have been 15K less. When R15 arrived, it arrived as a revolution as there was no competition back then. The scenario has changed now.
Though the bike should be a bliss to ride, only ride quality and performance is not going to sell the cake now. Prospective buyers will be more interested in a VFM product.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.
