    We saw a lot of it. We heard a lot of it. We waited a lot for it. And finally, it is here. The icon, Triumph Rocket 3 is back in a new and ‘exclusive’ Rocket 3 TFC avatar and it was every bit worth the wait. And it’s armed and ready with 167 Bhp of power and a massive 221 Nm of torque!

    The Triumph Rocket was originally launched in 2004. One look at it and everyone knew why it was christened as the icon. The biggest, pun intended, reason was the 2294cc triple, the biggest production engine of its time! Another factor was the massive 240/50 rear tyre! And when it was discontinued, we knew that something like that cannot just vanish. And since the winter of 2018, we had seen quite a lot of it without any concrete information. Probably the most prominent sighting was when it was ridden across the stage at a dealer conference. Not very subtle now, is it?

    But then again, something like the 2019 Triumph Rocket 3 TFC cannot really be subtle. And now we finally have the access to all the torque-y details of the beast. The 2019 Rocket 3 TFC is not a departure from the original, but an extension of sorts. Extension because at the heart of the motorcycle sits a massive 2500cc triple which makes 167 Bhp of power and a scary 221 Nm of torque. It retains the shaft drive of old and runs through a six-speed box with a hydraulically actuated slip-assist clutch to help contain the 221 Nm of torque. Adding to that, the Rocket 3 TFC is also equipped with tailor-made, unique Arrow silencers with carbon fibre end-caps, for a deep growling soundtrack.

    In order to have some Triumph in it, it gets the same TFT dash suite seen on the Scrambler 1200 (which isn’t launched in India yet). It also features multiple riding modes Rain/Road/Sport/Rider-configurable) and Triumph’s Bluetooth connectivity if linked to the Bluetooth module. And since TFC for Triumph means top of the line, the Rocket 3 TFC gets mammoth Showa 47mm USD cartridge front forks, with compression and rebound adjustment and 120mm travel. The rear shocks are Showa piggyback reservoir units with remote hydraulic preload adjuster and 107mm travel. And yeah, Brembo Stylema brakes… that’s just overkill, but is it?

    Now the sad part is that only 750 units of the motorcycles will be built and each will be individually numbered so that the exclusivity is guaranteed! And at $29,000 (USD) it isn’t really pricey considering the specs and the exclusivity.
