Scoop - Kymco of Taiwan launches Maxi Scooter and two more Scooters in India
22KYMCO iFlow, Like 200, and X-Town 300i
22KYMCO recently announced the launch of three new scooters in India, marking the company's formal entry into India. While the 22 Kymco iFlow is an electric scooter, the other two are powered by petrol engines. It must be noted that the company will start retailing the new 22 Kymco scooters here only later this year in September. In the first phase, the scooters will first be sold in New Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad. While it will start with 14 dealerships in these six cities, 22 Kymco said it intends to set up 300 dealerships across India over the next three years.

The 22KYMCO iFlow first debuted in India at the 2018 Auto Expo, though it must be noted that the version that has finally made its way here is an updated model. The electric scooter comes powered by an electric motor that develops a maximum power of 2,100 W. The scooter, 22KYMCO says, offers a driving range of 40 km and can achieve a top speed of 60 km/h. Available with a choice between six colour options, the 22KYMCO iFlow e-scooter will be retailed without batteries. Buyers will be able to lease the batteries from KYMCO, effectively saving them the hassle of dealing with battery life.
Second on the list is the 22KYMCO Like 200, which will be propelled by an all-new 163cc engine and, according to the company, serve as an ideal mode of transport for daily commutes. The last one -- the 22KYMCO X-Town 300i -- makes use of a 276 cc, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine that develops 24.16 bhp and 25 Nm. The scooter, which has a claimed dry weight of 181 kg, will feature ABS and disc brakes both at the front as well as the rear.
22KYMCO also noted that it will set up a manufacturing facility in Bhiwadi, Haryana with will have a production capacity of 1 lakh units initially. It must be noted that the iFlow will be made in India, the Like 200 and X-Town 300i will be imported as semi-knocked down (SKD) units. The company added that it will establish its IONEX charging network across India, with a plan for 40 IONEX charging points in every city so as to render e-mobility truly feasible.
