The original Suzuki Katana GSX1100S caused a sensation when it launched in 1981. It won the hearts of riders around the world and forever changed street motorcycle trends. The impact was so great that the Katana continues to influence motorcycle designs even today. The new Suzuki Katana is powered by a 999cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine inherited from the GSX-R1000. But the peaky motor has been tuned for street riding.
The engine also features a plethora of Suzuki tech like Precision fuel injection system, Advanced engine control management, Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) system, Suzuki Exhaust Tuning (SET) system, and a custom 4-2-1 exhaust system. The motorcycle sits on a lightweight aluminium frame. The fully adjustable Ø43mm KYB inverted front forks ensure optimum adjustability for a pliant ride or more of a... spirited ride. The best part, all the sporty feel comes with very relaxed ergonomics and the rider sits upright so that the spirited ride can be kept up for longer.
Talking about the colours, the new Suzuki Katana will be available in Metallic Mystic Silver which is reminiscent of the original Katana. But personally, we like the Solid Black which looks pretty darn rad. Suzuki had not launched the Katana in the US so there it is, another country devoid of the Katana. But Suzuki has announced that the new Suzuki Katana will be launched in the US as well and it will be priced at USD 13,499 which roughly translates to INR 9.6 lakhs... not half bad for a motorcycle like that. And now since the Katana will be launched in the US, can we hope for something similar? Only the folks at Suzuki know...
