  • Ducati Panigale V2 with 155 bhp of power is the new 'baby Panigale'!

Ducati World Premiere showed off Ducati's 2020 lineup which consisted of both new models and new versions. While the Streetfighter V4 enjoyed the limelight, another new model that could not simply slip by was the Panigale V2. An evolution of Ducati's previous middleweight champ, the 959 Panigale.

First and foremost, the motorcycle's design had been completely changed. The looks are now more in line with the Panigale V4 series. It even gets a single-sided swingarm like the bigger Panigale. And just like that, the Panigale V2 is the new entry gate into the Panigale family.

The exhaust on the Panigale V2 though is different from both the Panigale V4 and the 959 Panigale. A short stubby single silencer protruding out of the back of the machine looks miles better than the previous one's dual shotguns.

Built around the monocoque frame, the chassis set-up is embraced by a new, sports-style design. The extensive fairing hugs the mechanics, highlighting the compactness of the Superquadro twin-cylinder engine to create a bike that is visually compact.

The twin-cylinder Panigale V2 gets a sophisticated Inertial Platform-based electronics and, thanks also to a comfortable seat and its suspension set-up, it offers better yet safer sports performance while making road riding more enjoyable and user-friendly than ever.

The Panigale V2 is powered by a 995 cc Superquadro engine with a maximum power of 155 hp at 10,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 104 Nm at 9,000 rpm. Predictably, the engine is Euro5 compliant. Falling in line with the rest of the Ducati range, the new Panigale V2 also benefits from 24,000km valve checks and 12,000-mile services.

Suspension duties are taken care of by Showa Big Piston Forks up front, and a fully adjustable Sachs shock absorber at the rear. Also present on the Panigale V2 is a steering damper.

When its time to drop the anchor, the Panigale V2 does so with the help of Brembo M4.32 Monobloc calipers and Brembo master cylinders gripping the 320mm discs. The ABS is controlled by a 6-axis IMU measuring yaw, pitch, roll and acceleration.

The twin-cylinder Panigale also features the same electronics suite as the bigger Panigale V4. The Panigale V2's electronics suite consists of; ABS Cornering EVO, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO 2, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, Ducati Quick Shift up/down (DQS) EVO 2, and Engine Brake Control (EBC) EVO.

All in all, the new Ducati Panigale V2 seems like a well rounded-off package which promises the thrill inherent to the Panigale family, damped down just a tad bit when compared to the flagship V4.
