  • --****Shocking News Piaggio buys Aprillia **---

guys just came across this while searching for news .
they also say that they'll launch high end xpensive motorbike.
NEW DELHI: Italy's Piaggio seems to be heading back to the Indian two-wheeler market. The maker of iconic Vespa scooters has won the race to acquire struggling motorcycle maker Aprilia, a deal that industry insiders feel would help Piaggio ride back into India using Aprilia's existing tie-up with Munjal family's Hero Motors.
Under the existing tie-up, Hero is set to locally produce Aprilia motoscooters at its Ghaziabad facility and market them under a joint brandname. At a later stage, Hero also intends to roll out Aprilia's high-priced premium bikes that would be imported directly from Italy.

"Our existing tie-ups with Aprilia will continue to be honoured under the new ownership. At a later stage, we can even look at expanding the tie-up to include Piaggio vehicles. Though we haven't discussed this possibility with Piaggio yet, the option will be considered" Hero Motors MD Pankaj Munjal said.

well i hope to see some RSV1000's zooming around on Indian roads and awaiting customers in showrooms then . even with fuel prices soaring , manufacturers aren;t giving up . good or bad , I dunno .
Man will occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of the time he will pick himself up and continue on.

but it is still unbelieveable that Aprilia can have a lock. Aprilia Racing is one of the most prestigious ones in the world.
all this new venture is going to do is adding up a ew more board members from Piaggio in Aprilia's board room. But good news for India is yet to be announced by Apr themselves. Are they REALLY coming out with something for India? or just a speculation...!
