Bajaj Dominar 250 launched at INR INR 1,60,000/- Ex-showroom Delhi

Bajaj Auto has launched the Dominar 250, a variant of the proven Dominar Sports Tourer, that will make it attractive for riding enthusiasts to enter the world of touring.





The new offering features liquid-cooled 248.8cc DOHC engine, delivering 27 PS power and 23.5 Nm of torque. Further, it retains all the state-of-the-art technology and class-leading features of the Dominar 400 like the upside-down (USD) forks that provide superior handling & comfort along with a muscular look, the twin-barrel exhaust that produces a throaty exhaust note with heavy bass, enhancing the sports tourer feel.

It also features innovative bungee straps tucked under the seat to help secure gear during long-distance touring, a redesigned secondary display showing the time, gear position and trip information, and spacecraft inspired tank pad decals.

BS6 compliant new Dominar 250 is now available across all Bajaj Auto dealerships in dual-channel ABS variant with Canyon Red and Vine Black colour options at INR 1,60,000/- Ex-showroom Delhi.

very high Kerb Weight

It has very high kerb weight 😑 it should not have been more than 165kgs max . high kerb weight will make it harder to handle in city and will also impact performance. At this point pulsar ns seems to be better deal . also 130 section rear tyres impacts aesthetic negatively, they should have provided 150 section tyres or at the very leaat 140 section .
Price is steep . it shouldn't be more than 1.79 on road to make it vfm product Bajaj is known for .

Again with the NAIVE weight issue. By that logic, all superbikes are useless in city because they weight more than our Indian commuters. Indian riders rest their WHOLE body weight on their wrists, a commuter won't feel heavy under those conditions because they have tiny, unstable forks, cone and chassis. But it's impossible to ride any DECENT sports or sports-tourer like that.

Once you learn to ride with PROPER technique i.e. tank hugging and counter steering, then you can comment which motorcycles are actually heavy and which is not. Dominar feels heavy ONLY while parking or speeds below 10 kmph, that's it. If you can take your body weight off your wrists, you will notice that you can actually use the handlebar like a car's steering and just push it lightly to initiate counter-steering and leaning.

Since I am accustomed to proper techniques, I can zig-zag my Dominar in the city with ridiculous ease, I feel like I am riding a Duke 125! In fact, Dominar's handling feels exactly similar with Ninja 650 and other motorcycles in that power segment.

And here is my first ride video I had with Dominar 250.

It felt lighter and agile in city.
I couldn't read the speedo as of removal of odo cable.

But I tested it with few normal things I felt it's good commuter and for highways.

I am not much of a techie guy but I like to share what I actually feel after using it. So I won't be talking much about specs and shit. If it's good for your lifestyle it's going to work without any issue.

I am planning to share my long term review with Duke 390 soon. Let's hope I can do it on time and share it on this platform. It won't be new but it'll be from my perspective.

It doesn't change the fact that this bike is heaviest in 250 segment. Also i don't really have problem with weight that much but a bike should have power to complement that heavy weight.

Please don’t compare the handling of a sports tourer with that of a naked bike. Naked bikes are easier to handle and flick around but can never offer the wind protection and stability of a well put together sports tourer like ninja 650. I have ridden the ninja and it’s truly on a league of its own.

Of course its kerb weight is highest in 250 category, no argument there. But uniform distribution in Dominar makes it virtually impossible to feel the weight, all you need is light flick of the handlebar to carve the traffic.

While comparing Dominar 250 with Gixxer 250, I can verify that gixxer handles better because it has got ridiculously short wheelbase, high stance and cramped seating. Gixxer 250 SF is essentially a mini-bike, made for short guys and girls. Believe me, I desperately wanted to buy Gixxer 250 SF, my cousin owns one and I kept riding it for a month expecting it to feel easier, but it's just too cramped for me.
Comparatively, Dominar gets a relaxed, touring-oriented riding and stance. the handlebars are higher and farther compared to a sporty gixxer. So its handling doesn't feel as sharp for guys who don't use counter-steering.

Dude, Dominar is actually a tourer, not a naked sports bike! It's only fair to compare it to sports tourers. Regardless, people will stop complaining about kerb weight once they get a taste of proper machines like Z650, cbr650f etc. Else, they will always compare handling with the commuters and complain about kerb weight.
