Before the world came to a screeching halt because of the ongoing pandemic, our beloved world of motorcycles was doing pretty well. As things stood, more and more naked motorcycles were crossing over into the territory of superbikes with 190+ bhp of power. Some used MotoGP tech (read Streetfighter V4) to get there and some... supercharged their way in (read Kawasaki Z H2). But if the recent post from MV Agusta is anything to go by, the fastest production naked is their own Brutale 1000 RR!
This apparent madness for 200 bhp superbikes perhaps started with MV Agusta with the Brutale Serie Oro, a 208 bhp monstrosity laden with exquisite materials... a true special edition. Around August last year, we heard rumours that MV Agusta will bring out another Brutale model with the same tinge of madness. It was about the Brutale 1000 RR which would promise more than 200 bhp of power... the one in question today is perhaps what they were referring to.
Here is what the post said:
The all-new Brutale 1000 RR, the worlds fastest production hyper naked bike only from MV Agusta. An impressive 208 HP allows the Brutale 1000 RR to reach a top speed of over 300 KM/H with a record-breaking acceleration. Designed to get the best performance output from the chassis, engine, and electronics with minimum effort from the rider.
Upon digging it up, we found out that in addition to the 208 bhp of power, around 117 Nm of torque is also responsible for the mad dash that the Brutale 1000 RR is capable of. All that power is derived from a 998cc inline-4 mill. The new MV Agusta Brutale 1000RR weighs a mere 185 kg (dry). That definitely isn't a lot of weight for 208 horses to pull. The wings that flank the radiators are a testament to the brutal acceleration the motorcycle is capable of.
In order to make the engine that powerful (and lasting!), MV Agusta used titanium connecting rods. This helped the engineers to manufacture components which were strong and lightweight too. Also, electronics play a big role when it comes to keeping that power in check. An inertial measurement unit, alongside the multi-map ride-by-wire system, help the rider manage the power effectively and all that info is displayed on a 2nd-gen TFT screen.
One thing for certain that we can take away from this is that the horsepower war has entered a new domain when it comes to naked motorcycles which can now rightly be referred to as hyper nakeds. Anyway, as long as they keep making them this good-looking and powerful, we aren't complaining.
