  • 2020 Bajaj Pulsar 125 BS6 gets a split seat?

Bajaj Pulsar family of motorcycles is perhaps the most diverse range of motorcycles in India with variants ranging from 125cc to 220cc. There have been many iterations of this iconic motorcycle that played a significant part in starting the performance motorcycle game in India. Some time ago, Bajaj launched the Pulsar 125 Neon which was received very well. You can read our review here. Riding on that success, Bajaj also launched a split seat variant of the Pulsar 125 but it was not upgraded to BS6.

But now, there is a BS6 variant of the Bajaj Pulsar 125 available with a split seat. According to the reports, the motorcycle has started arriving in some dealerhsips as well. When the Pulsar 125 Split Seat was launched, it was not a pan-India launch and the motorcycle was available in a limited capacity. While that was true of the initial availability status of the motorcycle, it was not available nationwide before it was left alone as the other variants moved to BS6 compliance.

In order to differentiate between the other members of the family members and to avoid cannibalization of sales, Bajaj has decided to keep the BS6 Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat simple. The body graphics are minimal and the shades available are Black & Orange and Black & Silver. The Blue black option has been ditched. The BS6 variant still gets an engine cowl, 125 monikers on the body panels, split grab rails, and of course, the split seat.

We have also highlighted the main cosmetic differences that differentiate the Pulsar 125 Split Seat from the Pulsar 125 Neon. Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat BS6 gets an engine cowl, 125 monikers on the body panels, split grab rails and also a split seat set-up. The BS4 Pulsar 125 Split Seat was hampering the sales of the Pulsar 150. And, we believe this is the reason why Bajaj has kept the BS6 models look a bit simple to differentiate both of them. Keeping those things aside, it still looks very sporty, considering it is just a 125cc commuter.

The powertrain, predictably, is similar to the Pulsar 125 Neon that we reviewed and the numbers remain the same as well. That means 12 Ps of power and 11 Nm of torque. That makes it the most powerful 125cc motorcycle of the country if the 125 Duke is not considered which is priced a lot higher. A 5-speed gearbox transmits the power to the rear wheels and braking is taken care of by a disc at front and drum brakes at the rear. CBS is also standard.

According to the reports, the motorcycle was spotted in Bihar and there, the price is INR 78,643/- (Ex-Showroom). After the BS6 price hike, the vanilla Pulsar 125 Neon is priced at INR 75,494/- for the disc brake variant. The next one in the family tree, the Bajaj Pulsar 150 BS6 starts at around INR 90,000/-. Though there is no word on the nationwide availability as of yet, a split seat setup can go a long way in enhancing the looks of perhaps the most sportiest looking commuter.
