    Suzuki has been teasing the motorcyclists all over the world with a hint of Carbon fiber GSX-R1000 for quite some time now. The rumors and the hoopla has finally materialized into an extremely beautiful motorcycle called Suzuki GSX-R1000 Ryuyo. This special motorcycle weighs 168 Kg (Dry) and makes 212 Bhp of power.



    The Suzuki GSX-R1000 has always been a stout superbike and is a successor to some legendary motorcycles. The lineage that it follows is in the pantheon of greats but the superbike’s new iterations kind of started to lose their sheen but it remains a formidable superbike nonetheless. With many manufacturers coming up with special editions of their litre-class bikes (BMW S1000RR HP4 Race, Ducati Panigale 1299 Superleggera), we finally get to see what the Japanese can do when they get serious.

    In comes the Suzuki GSX-R1000 Ryuyo, the work of Suzuki Moto Italia. This motorcycle with a host of tech and parts mentioned below, manages to shed weight towards the extreme end of the spectrum at 168 kg (dry) and makes around 212 bhp of power. That is definitely in the Ducati Panigale 1299 Superleggera territory although the Italian was a tad bit lighter and a tad bit more powerful at ~167 kg and 215 Bhp. But then again, the Superleggera’s price was north of 80,000 Euros and the GSX-R1000 Ryuyo costs 29,990 Euros.

    But there’s a catch. Only 20 Ryuyo-spec GSX-R1000s will be made and that makes it way rarer than the Superleggera which saw a production run of 500 units. This model is actually a homage to the Ryuyo R&D center that tests all of Suzuki’s new models. The Ryuyo is a result of Suzuki teaming up with a lot of other brands such as Yoshimura, Öhlins, Dunlop, Brembo, K&N, Motual, D&D, and others. And yes, the bodywork is all in carbon fiber. All this results in Ryuyo being the fastest GSX-R1000 ever.

    Full details are yet to be released as the Suzuki GSX-R1000 Ryuyo debuts at EICMA in November. But here are some specs:

    Engine: 1000 cc, 4-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled

    Power: 212 hp at 12.900 rpm

    Torque: 119 Nm at 10.300 rpm

    Front suspension: Upside down fork with Ohlins NIX30 cartridge Rear

    Rear suspension: Fully adjustable shock Absorber Ohlins TTX GP

    those tyres look so rough, is it normal? does that mean they're stickier than regular tyres? are they special compound tyres?

      Yes it's normal. They are actually slicks(with very very limited wet riding capabilities) with no grooves to cut through water avoid hydroplaning and are used in racing when it's proper dry. They are almost entirely made of soft compound and on this bike would barely last a few laps. They come super smooth and provide unreal grip on the racetrack(in the dry of course) The rough you see is the rubber melting due to heat, so that picture is after a few laps on the circuit.
      Many modern tyres these days come with a hrad compound in the middle. so they wear less during touring/commuting as the bike spends most time upright in commuting, but have softer compound towards the edge so the same tyre provides great grip leaned in on a race track
