  • 2019 Honda CBR150R unveiled with ABS and some new colors

Honda CBR150R did not see as much success as its bigger sibling, CBR 250R here in India. As a result of that Honda discontinued the sporty 150cc motorcycle here in India. But in Southeast Asian market, the bike has been available and it was updated with a new design some time ago. Now, the 2019 Honda CBR150R is here and we wish it comes to India soon.

There are quite a few changes in this iteration of the 150cc sporty offering from Honda. Visually, the bike now looks sharper, gets LED headlamps, LED turn signals and a few new colors. The most exciting color scheme of the 2019 Honda CBR150R is the HRC Repsol racing livery. Apart from that the bike now has ABS and a sticker on the fender as a testimony to that. Another change in the braking department is the addition of petal discs. The suspension on both the front end and the rear has been tweaked. Another value addition is the Honda Emergency Stop Signal which makes the rear brake light blink under hard braking.

The instrument console is also new and now comes with a colored backlight. Engine wise, the motorcycle remains the same. It is powered by a 149cc liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine. The engine is good for around 16.8 Bhp at 9000 rpm and 14.4 nm of torque at 7000 rpm. The power is transmitted to the rear wheel through a 6-speed gearbox. The new Honda CBR150R ABS will come in four colour options - Matte Black, Victory Black Red, MotoGP Edition and Honda Racing Red.

No concrete information of the launch of 2019 Honda CBR150R is available at the moment. But we do expect this bike to come to India next year which is good because ABS will be a mandatory requirement for all motorcycles above 125cc and the 2019 Honda CBR150R has already got it. This motorcycle if launched in India, will go head to head with Yamaha R15 V3. We also expect this motorcycle to be priced competitively considering localization in India.

It's one beautiful looking bike! But Honda being Honda,I dont think it will make it here anytime soon.Even if it does,It DEFINITELY won't come with an engine kill switch.

Even if Honda launches it in India, will it stand a chance against 19bhp, R15 V3

Yes, and it's pretty hard to beat R15 esplly now that it has VVT

No chance ,R15 has more power that can't be matched by any others here !

2 bhp is barely anything to be fair. If they worked on that lack of low end of the old 150, and get the pricing right, this would be a great buy imo.

Back in 2014 when I bought my R15 V2, I went to the Honda showroom to check the old CBR150R. The first look of the switch gear which was taken directly from Shine and stunner was a complete turn off for me. You would expect a good tactile feeling switch gear when you are paying 1.32 lakhs. And I still don't see a engine kill switch on the new one.

For god's sake Honda, an engine kill switch is not that expensive. And a person spending more than a lakh on the bike would expect a bit more premium than the switch gear on Shine. Especially when Bajaj is providing back lit switches for more than a decade..
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Expecting a little too much from INdian branch of the manufacturers?

Nothing is going to change unless the mindless herd behavior of the people stops. "No kill-switch, meh thats ok because Fairings.... Sports bike...." Catch my drift?
People are not willing to confront the manufacturer, instead they just buy the bike and try to deal with the shortcomings.

Take R15 V3 for example, it launched here with conventional forks with the classic excuse of cost cutting. Only if people who were interested in it had told the dealership that they wont buy it unless it gets USD forks, Yamaha would have re-launched the bike with USD forks, no? I am sure Yamaha takes their sales figures very seriously.

But no people got no patience. Gota get the bike ASAP and show it off...

                  Absolutely agree with you sir.
And I might be going OT, but RE has been doing the exact same shit for decades now and just like you said, the RE owners; rather than demanding better build quality, defend their vibrating rust bucket with all their might, and take pride in that piece of S**t.

True that... Mostly because the majority of the buyers are Posers and not enthusiasts, who care less about these machines and rather just want to show off their pride without even wearing helmets. Ya they care to wear coolers btw . Sadly these japs just want to feed them with their cheaply made rides. Only volumes speaks for them

And thats why RE Pegasus owners got s**t on with the Signal 350-ABS. I mean brand support and loyalty is fine but why take it to the extent where the Brand takes you for granted?

And so far they have been very successful with that kind of business model, which is quite sad for us as consumers. But these days its all about the Scooter Life so....this is why we cant have nice things
