Default 2019 BMW S1000RR specs leaked: Gets ShiftCam, makes 207 Bhp!

Recently, BMW posted a teaser on social media which appeared to belong to one of the most anticipated motorcycles of the year- 2019 BMW S1000RR. In the teaser, not much was revealed and the only thing seen was a flash and a tagline that said ‘Adrenaline coming’. We have also got to see some camouflaged spy shots of the motorcycle being tested and full renders of the design patent too. The visuals are known to all of us- more or less. The 2019 BMW S1000RR specs and mechanicals were still a mystery though.

Now, even they are demystified as we just stumbled upon the specifications of the motorcycle. The 2019 BMW S1000RR was supposed to be revealed at EICMA 2018 in Milan but as of now, the revealing is only going to make things official. The worms are already out of the can for the 2019 BMW S1000RR.
The new motorcycle is quite an upgrade over the current iteration not only visually but mechanically too. The known issues with inline-4 engines is the lack of optimum power in the lower rev range. This is being taken care of in different (yet similar) ways by different manufacturers. For example, the litre-class rocket, GSX-1000R from Suzuki comes with variable valve timing. The same thing has been adopted by the Bavarian 1000cc monster too.

The engine on use on the 2019 BMW S1000RR is a 999cc, water/oil-cooled, 4 stroke inline-4 unit. It gets 4 titanium valves for each cylinder but probably the most important addition is the ShiftCam technology which was showcased in the BMW R 1250 GS and BMW R 1250 RT. BMW ShiftCam Technology varies the valve timings and valve stroke on the intake side. This results in more power all across the rev range, better fuel-efficiency, lower emissions and more refinement.

Crunching numbers? The motorcycle now makes a very healthy 207 Bhp of power at 13,500 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm. It weighs 197 kg road ready in the standard trim and 193.5 kg road ready with the M package. It gets a 16.5 L fuel tank and the seat height is at 824mm which we say is rather high.

Standard equipment includes- BMW Motorrad Race ABS, ABS Pro and 4 Riding Modes (i.e. Ride by Wire) namely- Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race. It also gets Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), HSC (Hill Start Control), Shift Assist Pro, LED headlamps, LED tail lamps and LED turn-signals. A TFT-display is also mentioned which might mean the departure of the analog rev-counter but this cannot be stated with surety yet.

The list of optional accessory list that we could get our hands on is as follows:

    1. M Carbon Parts
    2. M footrests
    3. M Brake-Clutch lever
    4. Windshields tinted
    5. Windshield Bubble
    6. Windshield Bubble tinted
    7. M Seat low 814mm / stock 824 mm / high / 849 mm
    8. M Datalogger
    9. M Laptrigger
    10. M Cover Kit
    11. M Calibration Kit
    12. Tank Bag
    13. Rear Bag

The asymmetric headlights are gone. At least according to all the photos, be it the spyshots or the leaked patent images.
That headlight design was the signature of the Beemer but to be honest, this doesn't look so bad either.
