The motorcycle is built upon the same frame as the Daytona 675, but the engine is now a Moto2 derived 765cc unit. Daytona 765 Moto2 Limited Edition makes 128 bhp of power at 12,250 rpm and 80 Nm of torque at 9,750 rpm. While the Moto2 engine was derived from the engine that does duty on the Street Triple 765, but the motorcycle makes more power and revs higher. Some changes to the engine such as stronger pistons, new cam profiles, increased compression-ratio, and such have allowed the folks at Triumph to extract more power out of the 765cc mill.
The Triumph Daytona 765 Moto2 Limited Edition even comes with a Moto2-inspired titanium exhaust which enhances the looks of a motorcycle that already looks like it is made for the track. Triumph also states that the transmission has undergone some changes as well and the new gearbox comes with ‘track optimised’ gear ratios.
Coming to the other component, the motorcycle is equipped with top-of-the-line Brembo Stylema brakes and fully-adjustable suspension by Ohlins. The frame and the swingarm, which is seemingly similar to the previous iteration, have been anodised instead of being powder-coated. Weight-loss has been a clear focus and the extent of that is apparent from the fact that even the bolts have been shortened! The bodywork is carbon-fibre which according to us must have been the biggest contributor in Mission Weight-Loss! On the electronics front, there are 5 riding modes and they all can be fine-tuned according to one's preference. The semi-active suspension has been given a pass.
The price has been revealed to be GBP 15,675 which translates to roughly INR 14 lakhs! That may seem expensive for a middleweight motorcycle. The price creeps too close for comfort to litre-class superbikes from Japan but then again, the top-drawer equipment pretty much makes up for it. Whether a unit or two make it to India, is unclear at the moment, but if one is willing to shell out the moolah, we are sure that a Daytona 765 Moto2 Limited Edition will look fantastic in one's repertoire!
