Holy Cow, I want a better Job!!! BMW beneath me would be a pleasure to me and a thing of envy for Aryan!!! heheheheh
But I doubt if I ever will be able to buy a bike that costly. for me , 1-2-3 lack bike is decent enough.Its not about the BHP or the CC, its about one common religion called Biking!!!

No Plans Says Bike India
Bike india has a different story to tell...
There are no concrete plans for re-entering the country’s two-wheeler segment yet. However, the automobile giant is now looking to source parts for engines and chassis for its high end two-wheelers from India.

The last time BMW was seen, it was the Funduro 650 or something (I hope I spelled right), but sales were so low due to high price and less craze and information about such bikes. And ultimately, they had to sell remaining units for Rs. 2 Lacs each and leave the market in disgrace. A Sad event, no doubt.
If BMW even comes back to India, it should sell bikes in range of 50k-3 Lacs or so, and specially made for India. We know that even R15 is specially made keeping India in mind... So, its not impossible though.---

One question...
BWM had launched Funduro 650 for aroung 4 Lacs INR and were a big flop ( unfortunately for us
), but in india we cannot import bikes below 800CC so where did they get 650CC from?? And man imagine 600's (FZ6, FZ6R, CBRs) being launched in india for prices around 5-6Lacs that would be simply dream cum true.. 
Even freakibng Brazils got good bikes over there and we have Pulsar 220 (no offence meat to pulsar guys..) as the most premium bike in india.. WTF

The BMW failed last time not because of the product but because of short sightedness of Munjals at Hero Motors. I remember the Funduro being launched in India while I was still in college, and I think it was assembled by HH after importing them as semi-knocked downs. The biggest barrier to people buying the BMW was the price tag of Rs 4.5 lakhs. It was more expensive than a fully loaded Maruti Zen, which was actually a upper middle class car back then. Rs.4.5 lakh was not a high price if you took the international price into consideration then, and besides the fx rate was around 32-35 rupees to a dollar in '94-96, so the resulting conversion was lower. It was just a bike ahead of its time. And I agree with Dka too - HH did not promote the bike at all-you could not even see the bike in HH showrooms those days. Ah- getting nostalgic about those days! Slightly OT, but let me sum up some of things back then in Delhi at the time of the Funduro launch! This should be fun...
1) Daewoo Cielo was the coolest 'big' car, followed by the Maruti Esteem. Opel Astra came later. Mercedes Benz launched their outdated E240 in collaboration with Tata at a price of Rs.26 lakhs!
2) Matiz and Zen were the 'premium' hatchbacks!
3) There was no CNG, and no one had heard of the Delhi Metro or flyovers.
4) PVR just opened at Saket, and people debated about the Rs.150 ticket price! Chanakya and Priya cinema were happening joints!
5) There were no malls - Ansal Plaza would open only in the year 2000.
6) Rs.20,000 a month was jaw-dropping salary. If you were earning a lakh, then you were god.
7) Siemens S10, Ericsson 768 and Nokia 2110 were the high end phones - they cost Rs.40,000 a piece. Call rates were Rs.16.80 during peak hours, Rs.8.40 during standard and Rs.4.20 on Gandhi Jayanti. And yes, incoming and outgoing rates were the same. All phones had external antennas.
8) Yamaha RX100 was was the bike to own, followed by the HH Splendor. LML Vespa's were also cool then! CBZ had not even launched then.
9) And there were no call centers!
Cut to present day, and things sure have changed! BMW should do ok when they launch the bikes in the next couple of years... I hope I will be making enough money to be able to afford a F 800 GS!

You/ Companies (they) can import a:-->
1. Less than 800cc, New bike: If they get it homologated through ARAI first and obtain a Homologation Certificate. This costs a heavy amount and a lot of time too.
Plus they have to attach Saree Guard, Front No. Plate, etc. to ensure a successful homologation.
Unregistered bike attracts some 113% tax total. A new bike registered abroad has more tax, about 153% or so...
2. Less than 800cc, Used: If you get it through Transfer of Residence Mode. Again, 100%+ taxes apply.

Above 800cc new: You can import it without homologating! Of course, taxes apply @ 113%.
Remember, since its not homologated, there is no compulsion of saree guards, front plate, etc. but it MUST match Euro-III standards.
Even Ducati 696's release was delayed due to homologation process. Now please, can we move on, understanding that importing a 600cc is possible.
