Blame it to the old govt. who could never anticipate this huge rush.

Bangalore has expanded in all horizons. thanks to lot of floating population
with the advent of the so called IT-BT, we have lost the charm of old bengalooru.

just a wage example how the city has grown: if any kormangala guys can re-collect, the forum signal was (is) called as checkpost where 12-13 years ago, the interstate lorries used to be checked.
now the boundary has gone beyond imagination!

PS: All car owners must ensure they pool atleast 2 people. Everyday lakhs of cars ply bangy roads with just the driver enjoyin FM with AC. there should be fine imposed on the non-poolers. (well i know this is not possible to stop in this already clogged roads!)
yes thats perfectly said !! i live in Wilson garden and hosur road was so much more better !! but its a real pain now!! and i used take 10 mins to go to school from my place to richmond circle in 2000 now it takes nearly 30 min for 4km ride ..nevez any idea of the sirens wich go off in traffic signals these days ??wat are they for ??
Four wheels is transportation. Two wheels is attitude.

Sirens/buzzer are for special pedestrian's(hearing impaired) safety, Also gives gives everyone in the junction a 30 sec window to cross the road since there would Red signal for vehicular movement all around.

I stay in hulimavu and commute daily on bannerghatta road(hulimavu-dairy circle stretch)and believe me,people are absolutely senseless. Most of them have absolutely no regard for rules, and the volume of traffic just keeps increasing(It is partly due to easy connectivity from bg road to electronic city)...dunno how effective this will be,but hope for the best. The main factors they have to consider is lots of junctions, narrow roads(except for the wockhardt hospital stretch wrt bg road ie)...Can't blame the police, coz what can they do if they have hundreds of new vehicles adding on to existing traffic everyday... hope technology comes to their rescue...
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

          Yes, this information is correct.

Bangalore was pensioners paradise, sweet silent city, no traffic hassles, Nice weather (even Fans were not required 7-8 years back). But it changed when Mr Krishna decided to make it an IT hub as state needed funds to run the State as farming\minning was in the hand of goons.
However, the mistakes were that they should have developed it on outskirts like Gurgaon & Noida and leave the City Centers as they area. In this manner we would have helped the city and developed the nearby areas.
I still remember how politicians and diplomats tried all the tricks of the game to stop closure of the Old Airport as it was helping their businesses like Leela and others.
Further, the steps taken by Mr Sood are in right direction. Hope they continue..

you can check about cameras on BTIS - Bangalore Transport Information System all the camera's are listed here, its nothing new, its a very old news just reprinted and gone remote control, sony world signal has camera for a long time but still its worse come anytime. Camera is fitted just ahead of sony world on a pole, you can see it round black like the one's in our office.

I dunno abt how cops are improving but i saw many harassing road side vendors even a day before diwali to get bribe.

One of the main culprits are BMTC buses, its a good system but drivers drive anywhere, its as bad as blueline of Delhi if not worse. My main reason of buying a 2 wheeler at Bangalore was bad public transport! In mumbai i never thought of it. I feel cops should be more strict towards heavy vehicles rather than taking monthly bribes.

Also Our office cabs are no less...i feel public transport should improve. I understand many ppl saying migration made city bad, but most ppl who work in gurgaon stay in Delhi, there is more migration in Delhi and Mumbai. Even the gurgaon 6 lane highway is being planned to be done 12 lane now, its just that Bangalore misses on planing and ppl itself caring less for the city.

How many xbhpian click pics of bad roads they travel, cheating cops and send it to TOI or something.

I have been riding in Bangalore for the last 1 year now and all i can say is that the traffic is really horrible here. The signals just go on forever. I have seen nothing like this happen in over 24 years that i have lived in Hyderabad(even though some ppl might disagree on this). Hope things are going to improve for the good.
I always have a pillion when i ride. Its my guardian angel.

i HOPE you feel the other way round when you stand in the opposite part of the siganl

now most of the siganls are manually-controlled because fo the crazy increase in PCU during rush hours. so wot the cops do is stop one part of the traffic (read a junction) for like 3-4 mins, leave the other side open and the same will apply for rest of the chunks.
this has proved success though it will take lot of time to finish one chunk of vehincles to move out! but this surely helps traffic move faster.

WOW!! hope this investment doesnt go waste just as the others did.. Remember.. the govt had invested on those oxygen kiosks for the cops to get some fresh air.. Am sure most of them are using it to escape the rain or rest their butts..

Hmmmmm. Should remember the list of enforcement cameras.. dont want to get into the trouble of paying the fine at the court.. Thanks guru ..

this can be debated by creating a new thread- COP behaviours
or this thread wud contain only OT replies if i start off with the things

                          PEACE!
Why create a thread for those... If you have all your documents and ride sanely then why fear the cops? rules aren't meant to be broken always.. rules are made after some analysis and brainstorming.. a single cop cant implement a rule cuz he feels he right. it goes thru a whole process before being implemented.. After such a process if a person still intends to break the rules then he ought to be punished..

And when it comes cops keeping a close eye on registration numbers not belonging to that particular state, i feel there should be no problem if you have paid the appropriate tax.. If the residents of that particular state is subjected to such taxes then the others who intend to reside there should be subjected to the same tax.. yes i agree that the tax bracket should be uniform across all states but until such a thing happens one must abide by the rule book.. i dont go scot free cuz i reside here. the cops fine me if i am wrong, but if you get aggressive and counter argue dont expect the fine to come any lower..
i agree there are cops who take bribes, but if you are disgusted with it then dont support it.. take the chalan and pay it at the court..

In my opinion, all this hitech gadgetry comes to a naught without an accurate database of vehicle owners. Does Bengaluru have one? I will be surprised to know if it does.

If they can attach the unpaid penalties to the vehicle number, then the owners will take more care in following rules. Coz in time, the attached penalties will lessen the value of the vehicle drastically and it would be in the interest of the owners to make sure that the penalties are paid. This can be enforced whether the rider is the owner or not. If the rider is not the owner, then the onus is on the owner to extract the penalty amount from the violator and pay it up.

This is just the start. Already in Hyderabad the traffic challans are being tracked. Whenever police stops a vehicle they check challan status for that vehicle - tracks them with their handhelds. Though not deployed everywhere, they are using it. To make things simpler they have devised out a mechanism where a police man can sms vehicle number to get challan and insurance status.

Already car traders and some buyers are checking for challan status on traffic police website or call center before buying.

This info will slowly be used by Insurance companies to categorize you and thereby give you discounts or loading on your vehicle insurance.

Eventually this will go on to your driving licenses too... heard of the point system in the Americas and the Europe?

I noticed that traffic cameras along with flash are getting installed at more and more junctions. This is apart from the traffic monitoring cameras that were placed months back that now exist at most junctions.
