    October2009 (figures from Bajaj media brief)

    Total sales = 249681
    Exports = 84012

    So,
    Domestic sales = 165669
    Disc100 = 95139 (domestic)
    Disc135+XCD125+Platina100+Platina125+XCD135+Pulsar s = 70530 (Domestic)
    Pulsar = 55413 (domestic)

    So,
    Disc135+XCD125+Platina100+Platina125+XCD135= 15117 only (domestic)

    Maths is simple, it's upto anyone to understand which is low volume or high volume....assuming equal sales...15117/5 models = 3100 each !!!

    Conclusion : XCD135,D135,Platinas must be doing well in exports hence not sacked, in domestic sales they are almost dead !!

      Bajaj plan to carry the Discover and Pulsar BRANDS forward and not the bikes....
      Its just that Bajaj will push and leverage these 2 brands more than the rest majorly because of the fact that these two brands have bigger profit margins per bike/brand sold than the other bike/brands...
      You might see an absolutely new bike but with similar Brand names...

      But making many people unhappy by sacking is avoidable
      Did you take a note that Aviator 102cc has also been so called sacked..

      Hold on hold on buddy....
      I wrote that in OCT 09 sales topic as well...

      Please understand that those 95139 are not only Discover 100s, they also include Discover 135s

      Moreover, how easily you have included everything in domestic....

      If you read the press release carefully its mentioned "Exports out of the above" which means that you have grossly misunderstood the release.
      I advice you to read the press release again and at least try to understand it....

      2008 - Dio (Owned)
      2009 - Pulsar 220 DTSi

          I think its better that Bajaj has only 1 product in every segment. In that way they can give a better product, rather than accumulating products that don't sell after a time and then eventually gets phased out...

            ^^^absolutely right...Customers trust in the brand is important.The way they are going now about phasing their products within 1-2 years time of it's launch doesn't really help their cause...

              While 4 decades old 97.2cc mills can still exist in the market, why not Pulsars and Discovers

                    1. But re-sale of aviator will not go down drastically as Hondas will make available spares for next 10 years !!

                    2. Last line reads like this "BAL sold 95,139 units of its new 100cc Discover DTS-Si in October. Besides, it also sold 55,413 units of Pulsar "

                              @insanebiker - my gripe is not with the engine.. though it has its issues and is been around. Its with the design and the look of the pulsars and discovers. they are everywhere!!! The least i would expect from a manufacturer like bajaj, which keeps bringing in mods, and changes, to now revamp their 150-180cc lineup with maybe a new model, a new ground up design.

                              Why wait for it to get broken, if you can fix it in time.
