i'll prefer to stay away from 100s and 125s until the yamaha R125 comes at least. or an aprilia RS125 priced as much as the R15? how's that for askin for a lot

Interesting quotes are 'full-fledged bike,' 'sporty style', and '110cc', and not to forget the 'affordable price.'

      Fingers crossed.

there was this news in OVERDRIVE that HONDA is testing a new soft compound MRF 110/70 SPEC tyre for it's new 150CC offering....

lets hope it is that machine......

Well..... Now this is something to look out for. They say the price tag will be 45,000, more power than the existing 100cc bikes and better styling.

This will be really exciting. Cant wait for the autoexpo.

BTW, anyone planning to attend that one???

It seems they will take the engine of splendor or passion do some modifications and relaunch it as they know hero honda in india uses their engines and splendor and passion are the highest selling bikes in the low end consumer segment which engines are a major business for HMSI, and than they may launch something like 110cc with a power of 9+ bhp on their brand name giving mileage of 60+ something and after sometime the bubble will burst as yamaha, bajaj and all will compete and after sometime all 110 bikes will disappear and finally again the 100 cc bike segment will continue, i wonder why cant they give up something which is really a big revolution for the 2 wheeler industry instead of jumping between 100 and 110 cc bikes

Even today, despite being just a 125cc beats the crap outta most 150cc (barring the R15) in most departments be it build type, quality, weight, outright acceleration, top-end, handling etc... Just a thought.

I was made to see certain such realities of underdog bikes by some low key esteemed members of xBhp, people who understand bikes way better than I ever will but people who do not speak much online!

I would love it if Honda brought out a product similar to that.
@Ken you are right... The Gladiator SS is a good bike... in the sense its as good as a 150cc(except R15)... coz we(6 friends staying in a rented house) have 3 FZ16, 1 Gladiator and 1 Electra Bullet with us... and i say the top end compared to other 125cc bikes, gladiator is good... my friend who owns the bike is a speed lover... who always ride the bike above 70+kmph and he clocked a top speed of 105kmph in that bike and i also like that bike very much except 2 things

              1) initial acceleration(i know its a 125cc bike... anyways comparing its top end a lil initial will be awesome)

              2) Mileage... i don't know those who own Gladiator have the mileage issues, anyways its really really low compared to other bikes in the same category...

Except the two its a good 125cc bike...

I mean looking at how honda shares the same engine across models, this is quite a probability...right..!

                2. On long term(*), improved quality of bike/spare parts, easy spares availability, easy serviceability, ability to reduce cost of the vehicle is possible, consistency of quality, more re-sale, etc etc

(*) For instance Splendor's spare cost is lowest, svc/maintainence cost is one of the lowest, spares now available anywhere, highest resale (value), consistency of quality is higher etc etc !!!

Committed to JV with Hero Group: Honda

NEW DELHI: Japanese auto major Honda today said it is committed to its joint venture with the Hero Group, putting to rest speculations of a rift
                  between the partners.
Honda and the Hero group hold 26 per cent each in their joint venture, Hero Honda, the world's largest two-wheeler maker, but there have been market speculation about uneasiness between the partners when the Japanese firm decided to enter the Indian two-wheeler market with its wholly-owned subsidiary Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI).
"We are working to sustain the design of Hero Honda. With Hero Honda and HMSI we see huge potential to grow in India, there is no change in our business plan. We are working on sustaining the success of Hero Honda," Asian Honda Motor President and CEO Fumihiko Ike told reporters here.
In 2004, the Hero group and Honda had extended their agreement for 10 years, under which the Japanese partner would continue to provide technology to the JV. It is coming up for renewal in 2014.
"We have been renewing the contract with the Hero group at regular intervals, 2014 is just another milestone for us," he said, adding the partners were committed to strengthen Hero Honda, which is celebrating its 25th year.
Hero Honda has been ranked as the number one two-wheeler maker for the 8th year in a row since 2001 and is targeting to sell over 40 lakh units this fiscal.

Is this some joke ? . For me its utter nonsense . Whats the use of a sporty 110 cc bike which would not be able to pump serious bhp also .
Even if it did to some extent , anyone would feel the need for more power and displacement . Heck we people feel even 220+ cc or the R15 also less powerful .

I would like it to be a commuter only . But as usual using big hi-fi words , Honda would sell it as kinda sporty or whatever bike to posers out there .
Again stupid public will fall into the trap and then again some here would think Honda is fooling us . The thing goes on and on .

This all unless its a kinda good track tool which i feel is highly unlikely because for under 50 k , no track tool would be made available . Honda is not so generous .
Hope is a good thing ,
may be the best of things and

Oil experts believe the next peak rate will cross $200 a barrel, that would mean atleast 50% hike in petrol prices in India (that too with subsidy !!), that also means it's gonna hurt large middle class 2W owners.....100cc is an important segment if we consider big picture...it carries more people, it carries efficiently (or say burn less fuel)...
