  • Bajaj ULC Project to Use DTS-i technology

"Bajaj, Renault and Nissan have cleared the air between them for development of the new ultra low-cost car and are now in full gear to speed up the project for timely launch. There are speculations doing rounds in the industry that Bajaj may use its patented Digital Twin Spark ignition to equip its low cost car. The combustion chamber consists of twin-spark plug at either ends for better and faster combustion. This technology yields large benefits when combined with Computerized Direct Ignition system and the gen-next throttle response system.

The new ULC car will have at least 70-80 percent of its contents from parts that are currently being used in scooters, motorcycles or three-wheelers. It will save at least 30 percent costs for the company without compromising on the quality. Bajaj-Renault-Nissan are expected to use their existing two-wheeler manufacturing facilities to set up assembly units for the ULC project rather than setting up a Greenfield plant Chakan near Pune. The company had initially planned to set up a new assembly unit near Pune that will be capable of producing 400,000 units annually. "

Though this peice of news isn't directly related to two wheelers, I felt like sharing with fellow xBhpians as it is indirectly related to the two wheeler market. Hope this gets approved. Thanx in advance to the Mods.

Cars already equipped with more than two spark plugs...means Bajaj will use only two (TWIN SPARK)

I wonder why Bajaj need Renault and Nissan if they are making a car out of rickshaw and bike parts + patented DTSi technology??

I guess they mean 2 spark plugs per cylinder, which would be new for the car...

Congratulations "Bajaj Lite" future owners!! Now, even your car will run lean and get hot quickly ....

Honda have been using this (2 spark plug per cylinder)as i-dsi in 1.2, 1.3, and 1.5 L variants could this be a problem for bajaj
and i had read some where that Mercedes also used this type of tech in their cars long back
could all these make any problem to bajaj?

Bajaj is used to do business with 'high-margin', according to senior Bajaj, ULC means low margin, low profit and project is having many loose ends..... read below link !! "Looks to me the ULC is a Hoax" !!

Something to give competition to the nano. Wonder what would be the specs of this car.

anyway, the car won't be having bajaj branding...it will be sold under Nissan brand all around. It's just the technical part bajaj are handling...
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch
