Higher octane is helpful in 2 st i'm pretty sure they will jst love that fuel, but for 4st it doesnt make that difference it just helps to avoid knocking but teh same effect can be found by using 91 or 93 in 4st.

no need to go that high on our bikes. higher octane is necessary only if you are running very high compression heads.. in two strokes or four high compression heads need higher octane petrol....

well maybe if you put in you might feel you are going faster..most of the time its in the head...

            Did anyone ask why???

Part of the operations to make india compliant to the new emission norms effective from April 2005...

All the fuels will raise the octane values.. like the current 87 octane will be replaced by 89 (or 90 i'm not sure on this) and so on...

PS: Did anyone else notice the ads in the paper for the New zen with Euro III compliant engine (only the powerplant change )

ya but for euro 3 compliance they r upgrading the new vehicles only... it will definitely have a good effect on the power-response & emissions...

but on our existing stock vehicles ... i doubt that whether such high octanes fuels will be of any help!

no use burning the pocket by using such expensive fuel. its better suited to imported cars n bikes.
also 87 octance fuel will soon be replaced by 91 octance for the new emission norms which will come into effect from apr 2005

to day evening i got a tankful of speed97 for my bike - karizma.

in mumbai it costs around rs.10 MORE than speed93.

                      speed97 here costs rs.55.00 a litre.

for fellows who were dreading the rs.50 a litre price - this new price will blow up your petrol budget.

for me the company pays for it - on litre basis, and therefore the shift to speed97 is of no financial consequence/shift.

only 2 petrol pumps have it in Mumbai, per se - and this is the only grouse.

albiet, if these 2 fellows can provide this fuel unadulterated - and they have a great reputation for quality - then it will be nice.

looking forward to more tankfuls of speed97.

hoping it is worth its price and does result in much higher performance for my karizma.

                      regards
                      Farzan

unless your bike is designed for high octain fuel, you are wasting your time and money trying out those high Octane fuels.
these are exclusively meant for MPFI engines and not Carburated Engines.
There wont be any problem and you will definitely have a slight improvement in performance which is notable as u ride it.it takes around 6-8 kms of running to feel it.
its better to drain ur fuel tank before u fill in speed 97.coz if there is a low octane fuel already present, you won't be able to know that much about the difference in performance
