The way the prices have suddenly been jacked up is surprising. I was in touch with a few people in Ducati for a Streetfighter S, and things were going very slow for some or the other reason. I hate to assume that this was the reason why. Needless to say, the SF-S is now beyond my ability to purchase/own.

Akhil - there is a new price list and it is with Dhaval. I guess it is only Mumbai specific as it includes Octroi and the local road-tax etc. The prices shown are on-road prices.

Streetfighter S is 30L +/- OTR in Mumbai

there are reasons these bikes are so expensive. the first one is the exclusivity factor. which generally means that most people who buy these bikes , buy them to look good. they pretty much ride it to the local coffee shop and back and go hard in straight lines. I have only seen a handful of ducatis with no chicken strips on the tyres or tyres that show that the bike has been ridden hard around corners.

corners is essentially what they are built for.

second reason for the price is the stuff you get on it. the 1198 s comes with ohlins front and rear suspension. that alone is worth about 5000 dollars. then there are the marchesini rims. they are worth about 3000 dollars. then the traction control, etc etc. it all adds up.....

btw duc owners who look down on other bikes are essentially the posers.

What a rip-off, considering the SF-S is 20k in the US. The distributor is trying to make an obscene margin on this bike - if the bikes were launched by the brand themselves in India, it should have hovered around 20 lakhs or so.
God help those who buy this bike through the distributor - they will never be able to do justice to the brand and what it stands for...

Getting a Porsche from these guys was worst experience ever. At 60% duty, the margins as you stated are OBSCENE.

Like I said before, what a rip-off! A 848 at 20 lakhs... import duties are one thing, but this is criminal robbery.

These bikes are steeply priced. Wonder how many takers it can get in India.
