    To be verified however!

IOCL Xtrapremium is 91 octane with detergent and other additives. I just filled 97 octane in Chennai (Malar) so I guess it is only the supply to Mumbai that has been affected. I don't think they will stop it altogether because the demand is just about picking up with more premium 4 and 2 wheelers being sold that depend fully on quality 97 octane.

But why so!? I mean what about people who own vehicles which require 97 octane petrol!? Where do they go; what do they go? Damn!

I understand that because the oil company does not get much profit from the sale of 97 octane petrol, they decide to discontinue it, but what about the owners who own such vehicles, which require 97 octane fuel!?

I dont think they care, if i would have owned a petrol company and i would be making loss/no profit by selling 97 octane i would discontinue it.

Agreed, but im sure, if the government and RTO is registering vehicles that require premium fuel, then there should be a directive for the Fuel companies to ensure that this fuel is available in the major metros atleast.
