  • Scoop! New TVS step-thru 125 cc with Rear Disc Break

TVS Motors looks serious to launch a step-thru bike in India and no we are not talking about the 110cc Neo, this time. Avid BIKE India reader Vignesh Giridharan from Bangalore spotted a new step-thru bike being pushed to the limit by TVS test-mule near its Hosur factory and has shared all these photos of the bike with us.

The bike has been christened as Rockz and has a gas-reservoir for the rear suspension with MIG inscribed on it and interestingly is equipped with rear disc-brakes! At first glance the new bike seemed to have a strong resemblance to the Neo but on closer inspection we noticed several new goodies and slightly different design features. The instrument cluster revealed that the bike had a four speed transmission and gear-shift indicator. Also, a choke just below the horn switch hinted that the bike was it was not equipped with fuel injected. But the biggest difference between the bike in the spy pics and Neo is the new bike sports a bigger, 125cc engine!

Remember the goodies we mentioned above? The Rockz is loaded with amazing gadgetry like MP3 player, FM, complete with control buttons like play/pause, next/previous track. This integrated music system is located just below the handlebar, on the inside panel along with anti-theft security system. The tail-lamp seem to be LED and resembles the Apache RTR.

I would like this vehicle, if I was in for a step-thru. Would be great for ladies though.

Nice. But i don't they will be launching it in India as there is virtually no market for it.

PS:The thread title should read "Rear Disc Brake" not "Break"!!

Wont the kick start lever bang onto the exhaust everytime one tries to kick start?
              TVS 50 XL -> 125 XXL : TVS VICTOR GL : YAMAHA R15-S : YAMAHA FZ1n :: KTM RC 390

I don't think that they never tested it before

Only Hero Honda can sell bikes where kick can potentially break foot rest , TVS does not have that loyal buyers.

IMO it wont, the start lever is short enough to avoid the end can & bent enough not to hit the pipe from the exhaust port to the end can.
The second pic being the reason for me saying this.

This Bike looks like a Combination of all TVS bikes...

                    1 - Looks like Neo
                    2 - RTR Rear Lights
                    3 - Flames Exhaust

An Media Player in an Bike - something that i hear new in Indian Bike Scanario - may be this is the Future we were all Insisting - of that to be deployed in all Indian Bikes in Future....
Bye Bye to all Ipods and MP3 players and Phones....

What a muscular thing this is but I don't know why TVS is trying to sell a thing which is hardly having a market here.

Nice step thru there but i guess this will be a flop in Indian market!! As the market is not open for Step thru's..
It'll be nice if mp3 player comes in some TVS bike!
                        Fun Starts at Redline!!!

We know that Step Thru's doesnt have much market here.....

Why we say so because - Street and M80 were merely failures as these were the Step Thrus which we have seen all till this time...

TVS is insisting to create a Market rather than selling Hot Cakes in with Cashew Toppings...

TVS is the only Manufacturer who looks to do new things....

Lets Hope that this sells better and opens a New Venture in Indian Biking Scenario....

Its is the ROCKZ 125 Step Thru, the second one for Indonesia by TVS after the Neo 110.

Sighting one on Indian roads does not directly mean that those will be sold in India.. As the TVS R&D is based in India, these could in all probability be test mules out on the roads for routine testing.
