Looking at the other options I have
      1. I take a 4X4 that has 12V adapter when I go to Leh
      2. Exchange the sim with friend's phone for making calls & give friend's phone number to family for incoming calls
      3. Get my mobile completely charged when I stay in the hotel
      4. Use new set of batteries in the mobile before the trip
      5. Carry spare batteries during the trip

I'm not talking negative here amvj; but the point is, I hate (really hate to the core) when I see people talking on mobile phones when they drive/ride; They only think that "when the phone rings you pick it up" no matter where you are; they don't see the disasters behind it; at this rate they will also charge the phone carelessly in the motorcycle when riding causing it to fall down on the road & make more disasters.

If anyone does not use the mobile phone when driving/riding, I full respect them & my points are intended not to offend them. Other's pls excuse

But will there be any electrical shortage due to water ? How is this charger protected from water ?

            Cell phone charger

Thoughtful i must say, but can we install a 12V standard cigarette lighter on any bike conveniently? I have a CBZ Xtreme

You could find it handy; No offence meant, but not the people who follow you when your concentration lapses; I would strictly say a big NO to mobiles when driving/riding; I mean, why don't people just realize
                  1. If its important, just get off the road or to some shop & take the call
                  2. Anything can wait, the service providers provide the caller id through which one can know who'd called; after the ride, get down & call them back
                  3. No one's going to die when they don't pick up the phone when it rings; one can always say the reason that they were driving & didn't pick up the phone

Quite correct my friend but please understand that it is about a multi utility port which has more pros than cons.
It is not only about charging a cell phone, my bluetooth handfree also depends on it heavily when i travel in car. GPS devices could also use it for power and of course cigarettes(no for me!)
The application depends on the person!

Well said man, the utilisation of this feature could be used in many positive ways so rejecting a new add-on feature for such a reason is not supported but the points you mentioned are very well put forward and a note for all those who uses phones while riding/driving!

I already have this socket installed in my RTR 160. Installation is easy. I brought a cigerate lighter socket from Car spare parts shops for Rs. 90/- and installation with clamp+Wire+Service costs Rs. 50/- so I got it for Rs. 140/-. I charge my GPS with it during the trip.

Got a Xenos 12v Cigarette lighter socket with lid cover for 150bucks (Billed with 1year warranty) at a car decor.
Still figuring out where to install it because a loose installation could result in theft.
Tried it temporarily under the seat in the box where the First Aid kit and tools are stored, works fine!
