I must mention that this news has also been around for a while now, but nobody posted it, which should only mean that nobody cares!
Yeah.........how wud I know???? It seemed for a while that u have mistaken the fall for a rise I dint intend to kill u,u seem suicidal ..............all I wanted was some sense from Bajaj.

Oh........ We Indians are not into gull wing Choppers, neither we are into Superbikes,we are bolt on into Hyperbikes, just post a stage1 upgrade detail for a Busa or a ZZR1400 and u will see how many posts it wud generate

@Karthik Mathur..........yes,the LS feels very weak much like the XCD.Under hard acceleration,it rattles all way to hell,it does gain some speed, but it seems that the bike is gonna blow any moment, decreasing confidence. Moreover,I can tell you with my eyes closed that most people who buys the silly Bajaj variants knows nothing about bikes.I asked many people who owns Platina125,XCD Sprint,P200,Discover 135 etc if they went to long rides with these, the immediate answer,"Bhaisab ye bike hai, gaadi nahi, bees kilometre chalaoge continously toh woh kabhi aur chal nehi payega" !!!!! Their main concept is Bikes shud consume lowest amount of petrol, stick to a very slow lane and move on,Helmets are not that necessary,Cars shud be given the priority, their bikes shud not or cud not exceed 90kmph,capable of using every inch of space on the road during traffic hours, even if that means scorning and humiliation from small car owners ...........tell me truly,is it very difficult for Bajaj and their dealers to convince these set of gentlemen of their strategised products????????

hey buddy even i have the pulsar 220 Dts-i
i'm not really against Bajaj coz their products do serve people who want some good performance
though i wasn't a biker before i got my 220 i do feel that it has been worth every penny spent on it
but in the 100-150 cc range bajaj really needs to improve its products so as to reach the level of quality of HH so as to give it a clear advantage in every aspect of its bikes

@karthik............I obviously wasnt targetting the flagships of Bajaj, they have their own weaknesses but are not silly, like the rest of the bikes.Out of Pulsar series-P150,P180 and P220 are the genuine Pulsars, others are a "fix a bit of paper here, put some glue over there kinda stuff".

yeah but i do feel yaar that the pulsar series needs a great upgrade coz if you see even the pulsar 220 is some changes from the 180 here and there and that's it.the other bikes ka bhi build has to improve otherwise in the long run it will affect them
but one thing's i have always been in awe of Bajaj coz they've managed not only to grow in India but also in other countries and that KTM 33% stake was just superb

@Karthik......whatever ,but one thing we all have to admit that it was Bajaj who started the four stroke revolution in India and convinced all others that yes performance can be brought along with low cc 4ts too. Before that both TVS and Yamaha had the market leading 2ts that shames even many 4ts these days, but however their production is no more legal, they are good as vintages. With the beginning of 4t era,Yamaha and TVS were seen lesser by the day.First it was Hero Honda with their novel CBZ costing a huge Rs.65,000 consuming whatever fuel it can..........was a huge hit but not successful as a sale. Then it was Fiero from TVS,superb in all but bland in looks, turned many people away.Next it was Bajaj with their Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 180,looks,price,power.It rocked the market, shocked everyone, appealed to the masses.Yamaha was practically destroyed.

Again Bajaj rose the bar by bringing in their Pulsar220, into a market played alone by the Karizma. That prompted TVS and Yamaha, the result is today we have RTR180 and R15,rocking the whole performance segment in India.
Bajaj showed the way,Yamaha is now back. Thus,Bajaj has the advantage of greater sales............though Yamaha Bikes are better at technology.TVS's RTRs are as mean bikes can get and enjoying their share with performance enthusiasts though P150 is still a big hit with commoners, albiet all rounders are in for better looking FZ16.

I had a Pulsar 180DTSi Black version, and I know that P220DTSFi was altogether a different bike. The P220 was very pleasant at high speeds, though short pick-up(0-60) and handling corners was up for a toss.P180 was still better at these two.

From this all,P200 seemed like a loser on all counts, unnecessary, heavier and slower. So as of now new P180 may be very much like P220,both are carbs, have S version. But the progenitors were different to the core.

Now it really feels like Bajaj has lost its bench-marker way.Its always busy targeting others now.Bajaj shud grow up and leave that segment populating business like Hero Honda.

yeah that's true Bajaj have always been at the fore when it came to bring newer stuff in the indian market
pulsar 220 is really good in that sense especially it's performance and VFM.
but what it has not achieved is not having as good a name as others like HH yamaha etc which with better bikes in future it may be able to
i have the 220F but i really don't find any difficulty in handling it frankly speaking found it much better than unicorn which is supposed to be a good handler
but the "segment populating" business is what earns max and that's what the general indian Lower and middle class crowd is looking for so if you stop that it's gonna hurt everyone in a big way
and these profits will in turn help the R&D for bigger bikes which will only improve them further
in that sense HH is even worse than Bajaj as they have hardly any engine upgrades in this segment
that basic 97.6cc engine has remained untouched since God knows when
even the 125 cc one is also repeated in all of them

The rear of the P220DTSFi was the always first one to go out while turning in a corner,it never followed the front which meant,it was a loose handler.Under mean braking, the rear used to unsettle at every instant.Maybe in the 220F all this has been looked after but I dint know of any chassis upgrade in the F version, dont about anything else.Sumptuous amount of power gives P220 much more momentum, than the Unicorn and thus it makes feel that the P220 is better at handling weight shifts, this difference can be very well understood after riding a P180 DTSi and P220 back to back.Whenever I ride any Unicorn,I take it as a light weight/momentum bike, which gives the true handling nature of Unicorn.

And..........moreover,I dont think that segment slugouts like P200,XCD Sprint and Platina 125........gave bajaj enuff sales to have the money for SBK developments.
Bajaj basically cashed on the sale of Discover 125DTSi,Pulsar 150Dtsi,Platina 100cc most.Which they still do in good numbers now.Though the Discover 125Dtsi is now Discover 135..

well my first bike just 4 yrs back was platina 100CC and it was newly launched at that time. and trust me that the milage u can get from it is awesome i use to get 70 -75 kmpl milage .. but its totally has very less power .. but still i have sweet memories with that bike as its my first bike with my own hard earned money. and did lot of short rides with it.

i really believe that new platina .. is very good improvement over the Gen 1 platina .. in terms of CC and quality.

Now from past 2 yrs i am riding R-15 ... ofcourse its like going from subsonic to supersonic ... but still i have my platina .. and i love it

@mach50 so finally bajaj gotta come na to these cheap bike segments
and im not really talking about SBKs im just meaning 400-500 cc bikes R&D in india
expecting an SBK is too much within the next few years as they will hardly sell

by SBK I meant in general the Supersports 600cc segments,250 to 300cc performers and the big 1000cc ones,I had a general term for them, not to be taken literally

Ok goin to fuel efficient affordable segments obviously does not means over populate segment with even sillier upgrades and that too if an upgrade is there,to be sold alongside the outdated one !!!!!!! It shud be a replacement way.To me basically all the 100ccs are same.Anyone will do,it depends more on the riding habit of the biker. And I dont see the viability of keeping both 125cc and 135cc segments in a product port folio.People wanting more fuel efficincy can go for 100cc bikes.Coupled with fuel efficiency 135cc bikes do good jobs.125cc segment looks a sitting duck here, just a namesake segment for Bajaj.Bajaj can display several prototypes at Auto Expo or keep them in probiking centres if they want to show engineering prowess.Flooding the market with toys masks the fact that heavier and real time machines are needed and are more in demand.
