    Excellent writeup too. Some users of the S1000RR at Xbhp can throw some more light on the characteristics of the bike

    Simba, you've had one the best vacations!!!
    @hifisharu,

    You certainly can go acid green with envy...who wouldnt?

    Would love to hear from an xBhp-ian owning this amazing machine.

    @csajal,

    You're welcome. And yes, if BMW managed to pull off such a feat in their very 1st attempts, come to think of what might follow. However, as I've mentioned, I'm sure the Japanese will have something up their sleeves too.

    Now to the bikes ....

    ^This is the love of my life... my dream, however I have never seen it in flesh. A friend mentioned this would be to high for a guy like me (5' 8"). Whats your say. Please use your words with circumspection, as it may hurt my feelings.
    @killer_instinct,

    It's fine to have these apprehensions about the bike being big and tall, because that's exactly what the GS is. And heavy too. But at your height, which is the same as mine, it shouldn't be a problem on the GS.

They are pricey vehicles but not that much pricey. Besides, BMW does not fit the bill of the regular Indian customer who is looking for a lot of fairing and plastics! Also, the height is a factor. The average Indian male height is 169cms, which is not ideal for riding the GS for example. Someone like you will be totally at ease on a BMW. When I sat on the GS, I could not reach the ground on either side! Imagine how I would ride it in lets say crowded Shyambazar in the middle of the those vehicles and tram lines or in Chandni Chowk!But if you are looking at figures world wide, for 500+cc motorcycle sales in 2009, even in a recession hit market with sales plummetting by 40%, Harley Davidson and BMW dominate sales figures. (To verify, please check on webbikeworld.com with the motorcycles statistics)

    The K1300R looks really futuristic. And with the 0-100 figures at 2.8 secs, it equals the figures of the R1! Stupendous to say the least!

    I liked your phrase
    Yes, I love the S1000RR too.

    Do I see a paradigm shift here? If so, I fully understand. And if you are looking forward to some future plans, let me tell you, there might be some interesting news... not immediately but still!

    Simply awesome! Thanks.
    @ken,

    As always, a big thanks for your abundant words of appreciation.

    And yes, though the S1000RR was the undisputed star of the show, the K1300R is certainly the under-rated star, or in other words, the dark horse of the motorcycle world.

    It's too early to comment on a paradigm shift, but nevertheless, I'd like to hear the interesting news.

          Better late than never

          Thanks for the appreciation. And yes, it would be a delight for all us motorcycle enthusiasts, should a show of this magnitude happen in our country. Fingers crossed...

            Hey Simba. Sorry I came late to the party! Just saw this thread now. Firstly congrats on your marriage.

            When you mentioned in my thread 'lately having come face to face with a whole of BMWs' I presumed you were travelling and either saw them or did a trip etc. Little did I know there was this huge goldmine out here....(OK, thanks for referring my tutorial thread here also)

            Amazing work you have done there compiling all the technical details and loads of crispy photos. Sure more people on xbhp are now giving a closer look to BMWs. One of our xbhp member (prashant from pune) must have just finished his demo rides in Germany on invitation from BMW. Waiting for his posts here. Is anything confirmed on BMW bikes being launched in India???

            BTW, were you looking for this GS thread?

            A friend of mine here in Jeddah just took possession of his S1000RR few weeks back. He is an accomplished rider. With the extreme heat (it touches 50 deg some days), not too many bikers on the road with a few exceptions like yours truly on his GS! So not had a chance to ask him how he likes the bike.

            Thanks again for sharing.

                ^^

                Thats the TTX02 electric motorcycle by Mavizen(obviously). It uses the RC8 chassis and drivetrain. Weighs just 110 kgs without batteries!

                  Hi Haroon...

                  Better late than never, besides, such "parties" are permanently open, so you're technically never late

                  I still haven't had the good fortune to ride a BMW masterpiece, hope I can someday soon. But this MCN show did quench my thirst temporarily.

                  Nice to know you enjoyed going through this thread and having a look at the photos...despite you being in the midst of a lot of these bikes at Saudi Arabia.

                  Am really eager to hear from Prashant after his demo is over. About BMW coming to India, I did hear from a reliable but confidential source that they might make their presence felt as early as late 2010, or early 2011. Fingers crossed.

                  And thanks a billion for providing me with the link of that GS thread, which I wasn't able to locate, as I had though it was a thread started by you...and so was searching on those lines.

                  Thanks again for the appreciation.....and I hope that we have our personal Indian BMW stories to share sooner than later.
