  • Bajaj to incorporate Brembo brakes in its bikes

Braking bigwig Brembo has introduced a new range of braking products in India. Called as 'BYBRE', which is an amalgamation of 'By Brembo', the product range specializes in braking systems for motorcycles and scooters upto 600cc. The P4.28 caliper is the first product from the BYBRE range launched by Brembo and it has been exclusively developed and designed for Bajaj motorcycles. Bajaj Auto, one of the key customers of the Italian brand, will be the first to use the BYBRE products on its new range of high-end motorcycles that the Akurdi-based company will develop in collaboration with its Austrian partner, KTM. These new motorcycles will be sold in India as well as exported to Europe.

There was a Bybre stall at the Bangalore Auto Expo. I spoke to person there and he informed that Bajaj is already using their brakes for some years now.

Wonder is there doing anything new!

if my guess is right, ByBre is nothing but Kalyani Brakes aka KBX.

Brembo seemed to have developed a new product for lower cc segment than they usually do and don't want to dilute their name that is associated with high performance braking systems. Hence the name ByBre.

This kind of a plan was announced while taking over Bosch's share in KBX and the name they were thinkign of then was BreCo - Brembo Company.

                ^^ on a single disc???

i think its just a low cost foray, so that the company capitalizes on the volumes of production here.. face it.. we make what? 30-40 lakh bikes a year?? why not make some money on it.

They come with three at each side multiply it by 2, total of six pistons they get upfront.

I know you asked for 4; just thought of telling you, if you do not know, that we have 3-piston calipers on a scooter in India.

pls check out this link of brembo brakes.the 2nd bullet clearly states 4 piston caliper.

Allright so that means the two pistons we see are actually on the both sides that make them total of 4, so the MV AUGUSTA SPR comes with combined 12 pistons caliper in both front discs.

Pistons are not on both sides, the pistons are only on one side of the disc. The brake pads are on both sides of the disc and the hydraulic force on the pistons press on the pads when you press on the brake lever. Four piston front calipers have been common in high performance bikes starting from the 125cc Aprilia RS125 and many of the 600cc and above bikes have moved to six piston calipers.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

This pic is old Aviator. The new Aviator with 110 cc is having Nissin unit with three piston calipers to enable them to use the Combined Braking System.
