  • New TVS Max 4R for the Indian market

TVS Motors had discontinued the Max R model in 2005 owing to the Bharat stage II norms. Now the company intends to introduce a new and upgraded model in India which will have a 4-stroke 110 cc engine which currently marks its present in TVS Jive model. The new model will be Bharat Stage III compliant and is mainly aimed to be marketed in the rural segment and will be christened as TVS Max 4R.

The low end and rural motorcycle market is very large and is mainly dominated by Hero Honda and Bajaj. Hero Honda has models like CD Dawn and CD Deluxe while Bajaj has strong market presence with models like Discover and Pulsar. The new model of TVS Motors is expected to be priced at Rs. 35,000 which will be a rugged model and can stand over-loading, a common feature in rural areas.

saw that news on the week-end. Good move by TVS.

First I wondered WHY they need this as 4 yrs back they launched STAR and said this will continue the MAX R's leniage. It reall did well. But now I see that the STAR is not in their list.

All they have are CVTI 100 CC Sport ; CVTI 110 CC Star City ; 110 CC clutchless JIVE.

Max 4R with Jive engine would be very good & practical for rural areas. Good thought.

Nice logical step by TVS to tap the rural market. The Star DLX and the standard model were initially targeted for the rural market but later when TVS launched the City/Sport range of models the brand got more premium'ish. So i think the 'Max' will help immensely TVS in getting the required numbers backed by the strong brand image it has gathered all those years of being a rugged and low maintenance machine.
