Only 8 lacs in US !!!! Busa also retails for around 8 lacs in US.
Then if Busa..........a much faster, better, powerful, easy bike costs 12lacs here then why is Honda making the VFR so dear ????
    Its ridiculous.
And Dual Clutch Transmission(DCT) robs power of the bike and it is not a favorite among conventional bikers. It is for them who likes to spend some time on bike after gettin tired with cars. The slipper clutch variant is better and cheaper for bikers.I hope they bring this model to India.

Now the only big one that remains to hit Indian shores is the Kawasaki ZZR1400.
The other three bigs are here already..........Suzuki Hayabusa,Yamaha Vmax..........Honda VFR is in the pipeline.
All the above four are Hyperbikes,u cannot classify them and you can do anything with them............they shine at all. They are very much for us-Indians.Bcoz most of us ride our commuter bikes like Rossi
The Big four can produce these four in India.................they wud have a market here more than any other country in whole world, believe me.Indians have money but many are apprehensive about spending the hard earned bucks in taxes, others dont want to go into so much of jhamela.I bet many people not knowing english but with good intellect and application aptitude too have money here. But they simply cant buy these beauties bcoz they cant understand all that details.I hope India becomes a hyperbike country soon.

ever heard of Honda taking Indians for granted and sell their products for a premium - en-cashing the brand value...?

The VFR is scooterish. It has a big non aggressive fairing. An exhaust like a scooter's. Many call it whiz-bang style.
Moreover a Busa will bid goodbye to VFR at 250 kmph.

I wanted to like the VFR, but 20 lacs makes it look silly.

            Lol I dint get wat u meant..............hahahaha

I wont call VFR scooterish especially if its capable of antics like Fireblade.Yeah raw power is not the asking point of this bike. Its a refined product...................not to many people's liking.People like things to be more easy delivering than utterly sophisticated. This tilts many in Busa's favor.
Old fans of Busa like me has no other option but to look away from the VFR1200

For 20 lacs u have much more options than the VFR .

Vmax , ducatis and V rod are much better options at this price ...

silly pricing and silly looking bike . The only good thing is 'We four' and DCT ....

After witnessing a buoyed response for the premium class superbikes it has been selling since the past one year, Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India [ Get Quote ], the Indian subsidiary of Japanese auto giant Honda Motor Corporation, will launch yet another superbike by the end of this year.

The company will launch the 2010 VFR 1200F in India by December, roughly a year after it was launched internationally. This bike would also be the costliest bike from Honda and could carry a price tag of close to Rs 16.5 lakh, although company officials haven't confirmed it yet.

The bike will be brought to India as a completely imported unit from Japan [ Images ], which will effectively double its price due to the high import duty structure of around 110 per cent. The VFR 1200F costs around $15,999 (Rs 7.51 lakh) in the United States, the largest superbike market in the world.

The VFR 1200F is classified as a twin-seater sports bike by the company, which has an engine that is bigger and more powerful than India's largest selling compact car, Maruti [ Get Quote ] Alto [ Images ]. The bike sports a 1237cc, liquid cooled V-4 engine which generates a maximum power of 172 bhp.

"Looking at the increasing need for superbikes in the country, we will launch the VFR 1200F by the end of this year. It will be too early to speak about the volumes for the bike at the moment," said a HMSI executive.

HMSI, the country's fourth largest two-wheeler manufacturer which is more popular in the automatic scooter segment, has been selling the superbikes CBR 1000 RR Fireblade and the CB 1000R in the country since the middle of last year. It has so far sold more than 100 units of the two models, which are priced at 13.36 lakh and 10.21 lakh, respectively, ex-showroom.

Although the introduction of such bikes do not translate into large volumes due to their high price tags (enough for buying four compact cars) the launch is aimed at pushing and enhancing the company's brand image in the competitive domestic two-wheeler market which is dominated by Hero Honda [ Images ] and Bajaj Auto [ Get Quote ].

Honda's other two Japanese counterparts - Suzuki and Yamaha - have also introduced costly motorcycles in the country recently, which are also garnering a robust response. Both Yamaha, which sells three superbikes, and Suzuki, which sells two superbikes currently, are interested in having more such products.

The companies are also desperately seeking to make inroads into the market with performance and commuter motorcycles and gearless scooters. The launch of superbikes have helped both companies in improving the overall brand image while reporting impressive double0digit growth in sales every month.

In addition, iconic companies like Italian bike maker Ducati and US-based Harley Davidson have also witnessed an equally robust demand from the local market.

Other companies are also lining up to make a foray in India such as Austria-based KTM Power Sports AG and Japan-based Kawasaki. Both companies are expected to launch their range by the end of this year or by the first half of next year.

The superbike market here is small in size compared to some of the international markets such as the US, UK, Germany [ Images ], China and Japan. But spiralling aspiration of the buying class, aided by an equally robust buying power, has led companies to believe that India is one of the fastest growing markets for such lifestyle products.

The market size for superbikes in 2008 in India, when Yamaha launched its products, stood at 180 units per annum. However, it quickly rose to 500 units last year. Experts say that with growing booking numbers, the market could well touch 1,000 units over the next couple of years.

Thats a very bad comparison by Rediff.........
"The VFR 1200F is classified as a twin-seater sports bike by the company, which has an engine that is bigger and more powerful than India's largest selling compact car, Maruti [ Get Quote ] Alto [ Images ]. -especially when the faster and more brutal bike is available on sale from the same Suzuki corporation that controls stakes at Maruti ironic.
Ok 16.5 lacs sounds good for a bike clinical and user friendly than the Vmax that costs 20lacs.
But it still fails to beat the Hayabusa with much better VFM for a hypertourer and that too at 4 lacs rupees less.
An Indian biker can buy a Suzuki Hayabusa(fastest bike on sale in India, one of the fastest bikes on earth) and keep his family happy too with a Suzuki Swift (one of the most respected cars) or a second hand Toyota Corolla for that matter, at 16.5 lacs !!!!!!!!

VFR is an awesome bike undoubtedly !
Though India is known as price sensitive market in Automobile Industry, there are exceptions !
We do have large no. of Rich Automobile Enthusiasts who are ready to pay any price to get their hands on such mean machines !
And of course Honda won't be expecting to sell this model like Unicorn !
So despite having Jaw Dropping price, bike will create a buzz around !
                            Behind every Great Man,There's a Machine !!
