Overall a sensible move by Yamaha, the Alba wasnt moving on its own so they sprinkled some HH magic on it and came up with the YBR 110. For all those who are going to crib about Yamaha going down the HH route, the article clearly states they are targetting the rural market. And as well as the R15 & FZ (+ variants) are selling, they still need volumes from the lower end bikes.

Still waiting for some movement on the 125cc scene by yamaha. The Gladiator is a great bike, but a mono shock design, digital speedo, front disc and radical styling is more like the way to be!

My offerings to the gods of speed -

            - KTM Duke 200
            - Yamaha RXZ 5 speed

A ridden a rickety old Yamaha Crux of a friend of mine.. I was quite surprised at how well the bike had performed.

I personally don't think that the 100-106 cc Yamaha bikes are inferior to the best selling 100 cc sloper engined Hero Honda bikes. But then I suppose that our "Aam Janata" who buy these economisers, somehow can't associate the Yamaha brand image with fuel efficiency.

^^ My bro had one! It was definitely worse compared to HH Splendour on most counts like performance, fuel efficiency except handling. These bike's engines do not last as long as HH too - main reason they do not sell that much.

Nice move by YAMAHA, if they get their pricing right this bike could attract a lot of rural Youngistan.

Here are some more links for that:

Yamaha launches YBR 110 for Rs 41,000-Two-wheelers-Auto-News By Industry-News-The Economic Times

Japanese two-wheeler major Yamaha on Tuesday launched its new commuter segment motorcycle -YBR 110, in the Indian market, priced at Rs 41,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The 4-stroke YBR 110 comes with a 106 cc engine and has 4-speed gearbox, it added.
Satish, I guess that clears up that its the same engine... You can call it 100cc, 110cc, whatever. And I agree that Yamaha should bring both power & mileage to the aam admi, using their technology.
In this matter, even Honda is ahead with their Shine 125.

So @ about 46k rupees OTR. Not bad at all for a YAMAHA. Gosh I remember paying Rs 47.900 for my RX135 back in 1998. This is good pricing YAMAHA. This one sholud help boost their numbers quite a bit.
