To my knowledge both the R15 & the FZ16 were BSIII compliant right from their launch. R15 definitely is, I have checked the documents now. Can someone confirm about the FZ from their RC?

            Didn't get?
            Warning OT:

Are you saying Apple is not selling much as compared to Apple .. sure .. but they have high margins and now
"A report Thursday by Standard & Poor's that Apple has replaced Microsoft as the No. 2 company on its S&P 500 Index in terms of market cap created a mini-furor, at the same time that Microsoft was reporting a 35% jump in fiscal third quarter earnings that was buoyed by its latest version of its Windows operating system. See Microsoft earnings story here."

            Though:
"Turns out, Microsoft had issues with how S&P calculates its index, and immediately informed the media, saying it still has the bigger market cap. See S&P news story here."

So point is that even though Apple is selling much lesser than MS, it has really high margin due to about 20-50% premium, it can still outnumber in terms of market cap or other business terms. Yamaha seems to follow the same ... after all Apple also charges permium for the "style statement".

            Sorry for OT

^^^ Apple has good margins and a healthy business but still it cannot beat Microsoft's market cap. I think, not yet. Just like how an ice-cream shop cannot beat a grocery shop. But they are pretty close now.

Same way, Yamaha with their premium offerings can never reach the market cap of the Bajaj or Hero Honda who rake their money from Bread & Butter offerings. And, please do not mistake profits to Market Capitalization. FYI, Yamaha sells less number of bikes in an year as compared to Hero Honda in a month. Where's the comparison?

From a niche market point of view, that Yamaha is targeting in India, I think Yamaha is doing a good job with the FZ. But they have to improve their numbers slowly - which is not happening. I am not sure how they'd hold to those numbers in near future with the Honda's so called Dazzler in the pipeline.

Hehe... sorry boss, but I couldn't stop grinning at the comparison. A good match indeed! Both their products are known for their great features and nonsense reliability

Somehow I have always loved the FZ16 styling and all its variants. I so wish they atleast plug in a 200CC engine churning out 17 odd bhp. The new color variants are good for refreshing the bike and the brand in the normal college buyer's eyes. People like us are obviously looking for power and performance along with that perfect styling.

                  Patience is the key.

^^ very truly said. Tweak in power of FZ would make it worth a buy. Hope Yamaha is listening to all this.

they should bring in more power on the Fazer which is lacking public attention! a 4 valve BS4 will be nice, i am dreaming too much ? also please bring handle bar raisers for the R15 , I think that will invite those staying away from R15 cause the riding position .. what say?

I appreciate the statement "More power for FZ" which is truely worthy... but a a handle bar raisers for R15 will make that bike look odd and can cause the spectacular handling to be lost... that's not needed...

Extremely sorry for OT again but I couldn't resist answering it. I don't mind deleting it when it serves the purpose.
I am not confusing dear. In general -
Market Cap = Share price * # of shares outstanding.
Share valuation is generally measured by P/E ratio which depends on earning per share.
So if a company is making more profit for a dollar, it's PE ratio will increase because for example I would, definitely, like to take more risk on Apple than MS if Apple can have a sustained high margin business with decent/good numbers and exactly this tendency reflects in the market. Ohh yeah!! off course EPS is not the only price setting factor, there are many e.g. future growth prospects and so on, price to book ratio n so on.
Apple which is enjoying high margin as well as high sales -- becomes an obvious choice for a higher PE ratio and that is true too. Apple has the PE ratio twice of Microsoft's. So in general sustainable high margins can lead to higher market cap.

For market cap comparison: it was partially incorrect story that Apple crossed MS market cap. Read explanation: Here's How MarketWatch Got Its Apple-Beat-Microsoft's-Market Cap Story, BOOM: Apple Surpasses Microsoft on S&P 500 - digitaldaily.allthingsd.com , Apple passes Microsoft for second place in S&P 500 - MarketWatch
But still Apple is now 2nd in S&P index only after Exxon Mobil, which is a not a small feat, by any means. And they work in a cut-throat industry where players, like HP, Dell, Lenovo, ..., are having tough times in price war selling very close to each other and in the same market Apple keeps enjoying a premium of 50-120%(try Apple Macbook prices against any laptop) with same configuration and that too when beating market expectations in sales too. This is happening mainly because of style quotient. So I was comparing Yamaha with Apple just for Style part .. Apple is far better off when comes to sales numbers. Yamaha, here, is just trying to replicate the Apple story -- good sales with high premium, but without any decent upgrade while Apple always have upgrades that can even tempt their own old customers to ditch old articles and buy new ones.

Back to FZ - I think, nobody can't deny its style prowess but what I am saying is that it was by far the best before these colors too. That's why just new color schemes shouldn't change much fortune of Yamaha.
