  • Concept: Chicane Seat for racers' comfort & performance.

This has got to be one of the most ingenious products for budding racetrack aspirants we have seen in recent times. Brit Brothers, a UK-based company has come up with this motorcycle saddle replacement unit helps riders to slide smoothly from knee-down left to knee-down right in corners without having to lift their entire bodyweight off the seat to do so. Instead of the traditional padded cushion, the system uses toothed belts and tapered rollers that rotateadjustable friction controls integrated into the seat unit which can be used to regulate the friction and the strength of recoil back towards the centrepoint.

The most obvious benefit of this technology is that it allows the rider to conserve more energy in the course of the race by eliminating the need to lift up his entire body off the seat in every corner. The system also aids aerodynamics in a big way since the rider does not need to sit up every time he approaches a corner, and thus he can keep his head and upper body out of the way of the airstream.

The Chicane seat is currently in concept stage but it would be interesting to lay our hands on an example once it goes into production

Guys, this is one amazing seat. Imagine sliding on rollers during a chicane in racing. It might take some time getting used to, but it appears to be simple yet effective method.

i like this.. you can use the return mechanism to pull your body back to neutral position, so in effect exerting lesser force on the body to bring it back, thereby being able to take a higher amount of stress while cornering.. Good idea really!
