the problem is that they had a little bit production problems in their units
and add to that their 25+ old 97.2cc shows its age, its hardly managed to meet bs3 emissions for 2 wheelers and firmly can say it cont go beyond that

leave this behind, discover sells well is rural and in urban too

True...Victor had an immense number of followers and the name itself was enough to move the motorcycle off showroom floors. This was especially true in the rural areas.

True that...the 4S, 4S Champion, Boxer and CT100 were good products... very practical motorcycles at affordable prices.

+1000 You are absolutely correct...bajaj bring back those Boxers...man they were solid bikes and very cheap to run

            .
Some part of the success of Victor can also be credited to Sachin Tendulkar. The lucky mascot surely pulled in loads of buyers. In fact TVS officials agreed.. the sales of Victor went down when TVS reduced spending on advertising Victor.

There was this case study which i had read stated that HH was forced to 'upgrade' their models cosmetically only after Victor's advent. It was the first motorcycle in that segment which gave sleepless nights to HH and they quickly suffixed the '+' monicker on their Splendor and Passion Models in order to revive the sales.

Over 2 million Victors(including the 125ccs) have been sold by TVS till date.

Back in 2002-03 I was just a layman with a little bit of interest in bikes.. to me the "Victor" back then was the model with the "More Smiles per hour"- Sachin Tendulkar Ad campaign. But after sometime I remember getting confused by the "Victor GLX", "Victor Edge" variants.. The body styles were different and I couldn't make out which model stood for what.

It is my hypotheseis, but probably by not changing "body styles" makes the confusion less for the normal public.

The Discover might have got 5 different engines (110, 125, 135 and now 100 and 150) during it 6 years of existance.. but since the body style has remained same, for the normal guy any Discover on the road is just the Discover which he has learnt to recognise over the years.

I had read that case study too (probably still available for download).. according to that case study, the initial success of the Victor had in fact forced Hero Honda to lower the price of its Splendor for the first time.

I don't think dr gonna be any major problem for bajaj to fill the gaps with HH in upcoming years.

Discover 100 is doing an exceptional job for them.

I think rahul bajaj knows what gen_next is looking for.
