The event is the 38th annual BMW Motorcycle Riders Association International Rally, which for the past few decades has been held in scattered locations across the country.
Debbi Harbour, president of the BMW Riders Association, said the event is open to everyone, not just riders association members or BMW riders. She said rates have not been set, but people will be able to purchase day passes.
One of the main attractions, she said, will be the antique BMW collection owned by Peter Nettesheim, of Long Island, N.Y. She said Nettesheim plans to show 15 of his bikes at the rally, including one believed to be one of the oldest BMWs in existence, a 1923 R32.
Harbour said venues are chosen based on a number of factors, such as area riding conditions and the presence of a local club. She said the Vermont chapter of BMW riders has a Web forum where people have been posting suggested destinations for rallies when they come to Pownal.
