Kawasaki Motors Corp., USA is recalling certain model year 2010 Z1000 (ZR1000DAF) motorcycles. It has been discovered that under severe riding conditions the left front brake hose may contact the front brake rotor during extremely heavy application of the front brake.
The new 2010 Z1000 motorcycle was redesigned from scratch, with the specific goals of creating a distinctive visual impact and better on-road motorcycling performance.
The new motorbike clearly surpasses the performance of its predecessors, thanks to a new quick-revving 1,043cc inline-four cylinder engine, and an all-new quick-steering aluminum chassis connected to an all-new horizontal rear suspension design.
A comfortable upright riding position means the Z1000 was redesigned to remain as a practical transportation tool.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration this defect can cause brake fluid to leak creating the potential for a crash resulting in injury or death.
To remedy the recall, Kawasaki dealers will inspect the front brake hose and replace it if required. Additionally, the front brake hose position will be adjusted to prevent contact with the brake rotor.
This motorcycle safety recall is expected to begin during July 2010. The potential number of bikes affected is 1.161. The brake service will be performed free of charge for all Z1000 owners.
