The Renegade Sport S model and Renegade Classic will also share the same engine as the Renegade Commando. The Renegade Sport S was much appreciated when it was showcased at the 2015 EICMA in Milan. The Renegade Commando and its sibling Renegade Sport S come with an electric start and have an air filter with paper element innovation. Six-speed synchronized mesh has been added for easy cruising. The front wheel has telescopic suspension while the rear wheel has dual shock absorbers. These motorcycles have a fuel tank of 18 litres with a kerb weight of 172 kg. The Renegade Sport S and the Renegade Classic are available at INR 1.49 lakhs and INR 1.69 lakhs respectively across India (ex-showroom New Delhi).

I think they will have success with "commando" if they provide good sales and service network.

Yes, but the spec sheet of Renegade IIRC was very similar to a ZMA, albeit in a cruiser avatar. I feel it may be just a tad too costly. But then I'm not sure about the specs and maybe build quality deserves that money.

Ok, it's more in CBR250R category.

I feel in Tier 1 and 2 cities people are starting to move away from cruisers and these Pseudo cruisers shown here will, may be, sell in Tier 3 cities of India. If UM had done some market research, they would have noted that there is a large market for Dual sport/ Enduro machines that is catered only by Hero Impulse and RX100's with button tyres in India. UM Global site already lists some Dual sport machines in a variety of engine sizes from 125 - 200cc (albeit that looks very chinese). It would have been easier for them to establish in such a niche first, is what I feel.

You should cover what is uncovered at UM motorcycles, something like this...

Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
Awareness + Skill is what keeps you out of harm's way
ATGATT + Awareness + Skill means you might Live To Ride another day

                        So I see Cap's bike, a poor man's M109R and HD Dyna.

We might not be a great market for cruisers but those are some fine options for someone who wants a relaxed ride and can't afford the hogs

On the contrary, the build quality is too plasticky. Personally I won't bet anything on these bikes as UM has quite a bad reputation abroad. They used to sell hyosung bikes back in the states and shut down after numerous service related complaints and pathetic build quality issues. Moreover this Lohia motors used to make desi electric scooters, not sure if the svc issue will be sorted.

The torque seems too low for a cruiser especially when the source is 300cc. Not sure how will it perform. Going by the spec it might struggle in the cruising ability.
Will have to wait and see what have they done to stay in the competition.
