  • Satadal Payeng - Top 20 finalist - Biker of the Year 2011

About Satadal: "Biker Next Door", that's how I have always thought of myself as a biker. The other day a colleague of mine quizzed me, "Payeng, apart from motorcycles what is your other passion?" I thought for a little while then I replied "None..!!" Birth of the Biker in me: I have been thinking, living and even dreaming about motorcycles for close to 13 years now. It all started in late 1988 when I saw the photo of the CBZ on a magazine cover. On that fateful day, "A Biker Was Born" The Biker in me is my Alter Ego: Whenever I don my riding jacket, gloves and helmet and get astride my motorcycle; I transform into a better person.. It not about being faster than the next biker on the road, nor is it about owing/being seen on the glitziest/desirable set on two wheels. It is also not about "I am a better biker than you". Riding a motorcycle to me is about being at peace with who I am.. "A Biker Next Door"

His Video Intro: ‪satadal payeng - Biker of the Year 2011 Top 20 contestants‬‏ - YouTube

Do I think I have contributed to the motorcycling community, however a
    small way it may be?

I am one the the earliest motorcycle bloggers of India. My blog is dedicated specifically on Indian motorcycles as seen through my eyes. I have been chronicling the evolving motorcycle scene of India since the last 5 years. All these years I have ridden and posted my thoughts and experiences of motorcycles ranging from the humble 100 cc'c to the present multi-cylinder imports. From the very beginning I have made it a point to set an example by always riding / photographed with protective gear. I am still doing my bit to promote safety.

How can I contribute more in the future to the motorcycling community?
Promote safe and responsible riding. Always set a good example for others. Continue to chronicle the motorcycle scene of India (it will be interesting to look back after 50 years..!!) But the best that I can do is staying a true "Biker For Life".

    My Touring Experience
    Total Kms. Clocked

Haven't counted the experience in miles/kms

    Best Ride
The North East region of India is an unexplored but incredible place to tour on motorcycles. Being from the North, it would not be fair on my part not to explore my own backyard. On April 2011 seven biker friends got together for a memorable ride to Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.

One dream ride that I want to do
    Africa

    Places I have ridden
    Jaipur, Tawang, Mumbai, Mysore

Best touring Bike according to me
    BMW R1200 GS

    Tips to budding tourers
    1. Savor the journey and not be bothered about the destination 2. Don't forget to wave back at the kids who wave at you

1988??? I still remember very well, CBZ was first portrayed on the cover magazine of Overdrive Mar or Apr 1999. The color was green.

I recollect seeing a Red CBZ on the cover page of Overdrive magazine probably on it's 1998 Nov-Dec issue.. the bike wasn't launched by then.. but saw it in the magazine.
