Re: Presenting the scrambler from Benelli - The Leoncino
Since I searched the site and there was only this thread regarding the motorcycles Benelli are set to launch in 2017 in India, here is to it the LEONCINO (Scrambler) and TRK 502 (Tourer).
The bikes were first showcased in ECIMA 2015 in Milan along with Tornado 302. Arguably the bike which turned most heads, at least in the scrambler category, was the Leoncino with its refined looks, design, front LED DRLs, subtly placed Lion of Pesaro in the front fender and the biggest feature of tires. It speaks of the great lengths the design team have gone to achieve the looks. Although it was showed as prototype they showed at ECIMA, by 2015 there are many more prototypes and most probably production has started (Not able to find any News on that except one by unrestricted). https://<br /> http://derestricted.c...nelli-designer
Coming to the TRK 502 it is a Tourer bike which share most of the specs with Leoncino both have a 499cc engine which is coupled to a 6 speed gear box, developing 35 Kw of torque which coverts to 48 bhp. Both come equipped with Dual disc320mm Front brake with Brembo brake pads with Benelli Calipers along with ABS and a single disc 260mm back brake.
The chassis is made of steel Trellis frame mounted to it are 2 50mm upside down front suspension and on the back a swing arm suspension, which can be adjusted to various settings. The engine is a liquid cooled parallel twin with 4 valves with double camshaft (DOHC) timing system, fuel is electronically injected and there is a wet sump for lubrication. There is a huge radiator for cooling the engine.
When I spoke with Benelli dealer in Chennai he said that the price will be less than 5 lakhs which is great, when comparing it to the Ducati Scrambler which cost almost 2 lakhs more but also has 300cc more. Off course the Ducati can't emulate the design of Leoncino.
The last picture attached is the actual photo of the production model.
The sad news is we have to wait till next year to see daylight of Leoncino. And I am bit pessimistic about this too because they still haven't launched the Tornado 302.

Re: Presenting the scrambler from Benelli - The Leoncino
"However,*its new partner, the Mahavir Group, has announced that it will be launching not one, but four variants of the Leoncino in India. We expect the Leoncino Sport and a 250cc single-cylinder model to come later, but the standard Leoncino and Leoncino Trail will both be here before the end of this financial year."
Standard

Trail/Scrambler (185mm ground clearance)

Sport(looks like the little brother of Z900RS Cafe)

"It will be India’s first mid-capacity scrambler
The Leoncino 500 is powered by a 499.6cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected parallel-twin that produces 47.6hp at 8,500rpm and 45Nm of torque at 5,000rpm. This engine is paired to a six-speed transmission and features a wet clutch. This will make it India’s first mid-capacity scrambler. Benelli say that the Leoncino has been doing well for them internationally and they expect a similar response from the Indian market."
