Improving a Moto Guzzi is never easy. It takes courage, passion and skill to live up to the expectations and reputation of a legendary brand that is beloved the world over for its coveted motorcycles. The best recent example of this magical combination is the California 1400, the Mandello del Lario flagship, a final exam conducted by critics, customers and the market passed with flying colours.

Now Moto Guzzi relaunches, improving on the other pillar in its product range: the V7Moto Guzzi entry level, the model made for women and men, young people, those who want to buy their first bike ever and broaden their horizons.

The revamping of the "small" V7, unveiled for the first time at Intermot 2014 in Cologne and available on the market to coincide with the Milan show EICMA 2014, represents a clear evolution compared to its predecessor, so much that it deserves a new name: V7 II. The addition of the Roman numeral historically identifies the most successful and longest running products to come out of Mandello del Lario, such as the V50, Le Mans, 1000 SP, California and now also the V7 in its well-known and popular versions: Stone, Special, Racer.

V7 SECOND GENERATION: COMPLETELY NEW, INFINITE VERSIONS.
The second generation of the Moto Guzzi V7 keeps the stylistic personality of its predecessor intact: a design that dialogues between Moto Guzzi shapes from the past combined with the needs of a modern bike capable of satisfying the widest possible range of enthusiasts.
At the same time, Moto Guzzi V7 II is a completely new bike in terms of technology, powertrain, ergonomics, safety, construction quality and finish and riding pleasure
Moto Guzzi V7 II also marks a decisive turning point in the quality and wide range of Moto Guzzi accessories. In fact, the brand from Mandello del Lario introduces a wide range of accessories at EICMA 2014 which are dedicated to the "V7 family". In fact, simultaneously with the Moto Guzzi V7 II commercial launch, customers will also have more than 60 brand new accessories available to them which allows a totally unique level of personalization. In addition to the vehicle accessories line, which will now be in excess of 90 items with the important new products, from the beginning of 2015 there will also be brand new helmets as well as technical and lifestyle apparel to complete a 100% 'Made in Guzzi' style.
But that's not all: another extremely important aspect was the design and development of numerous parts in order to allow each customer to personalise his or her V7 to the extent that it becomes a true "special" in the most diverse interpretations, from the Dark Rider to the Scrambler, from the Heritage to the . This multiplies the V7 II exponentially with respect to the three standard versions and allows each Guzzista to create a completely unique, original and "tailor made" vehicles which is still entirely compatible with the basic version. This is a new Moto Guzzi strategy that confirms the V7 as an extraordinary platform for the creation of special bikes, thanks in part to the enthusiasm with which the greatest customizers in the world take on transformations of Guzzi models into unique, magazine cover works of art.
It is not by chance that at EICMA 2014 four of the most important European preparers and customizers will present their tributes to Moto Guzzi by creating as many unique versions. This important initiative launched by Moto Guzzi is just the first step in a strategic outline aimed at the progressive and continuous expansion of available accessories and the possibilities for personalisation, all associated with a painstaking eye for detail, quality and typical "Made in Italy" taste.

    V7 II: AN EXTRA GEAR.
The Moto Guzzi V7 II was born out of the radical and energetic work done on the engine and the chassis where every possible path was explored to increase the level of safety, ergonomics and comfort - in short, the pleasure of riding.
It's not just an expression, the V7 truly has an extra gear. All it takes is one look at the completely redesigned gearbox that completes the engine revamping launched in 2012 with the thermal part, electronic management and the fuel system, continued this year with a new alternator and the introduction of forced lubrication with an oil pump.
The six gear spacing allowed the first and last two ratios to be reduced, decreasing the drop in rpm between one gear and the next. For everyday riding this means a better response, even in the use of torque, and even lower fuel consumption.
The primary drive ratio has also been changed, going from 16:21 to 18:23. Along with the gearbox the clutch was also improved, with modifications to the lever, the linkage and the cable in order to achieve a softer action and a more even release.

    TOTAL SAFETY.
Moto Guzzi has always been at the top of its game when it comes to safety aspects as well.
The 1973 V750 S was one of the first bikes in the world to have dual front disc brakes, followed by the S3 with a disc on the rear as well. In 1975 used through . The purpose of this device was to reduce stopping distances and dynamic stability in braking - basically an pioneer ABS system. Today Moto Guzzi continues developing solutions to increase active safety for the rider and on the V7 II the ABS and MGCT (Moto Guzzi Controllo Trazione) systems are introduced.
The former is a Continental two-channel unit, whereas the latter is a system passed down from the California 1400, simplified in operation, which adapts to the vehicle speed, springing into action based on the difference in speed between the front and rear wheel.
Among other things, the system allows the tyre contact surface with the ground to be recalibrated, thereby compensating for any wear or the use of units that have a profile different than the original standard equipment.

THE FIRST IMPRESSION IS THE ONE THAT COUNTS.
Looking at the V7 II for the first time, the trained eye of an enthusiast may sense an initial significant difference: the bike appears to be longer and more front-loaded.
It may seem like an optical illusion, but it is something more: . The proof is in the pudding: three centimetres of knee room were added which, thanks to the new footpegs, lowered 25 mm provide a comfortable seating position even for riders who are a few centimetres taller than average.
Besides comfort, the Moto Guzzi V7 II is a whole other bike in terms of riding pleasure.
All you have to do is squeeze the clutch and engage the gear to appreciate a soft and quiet action which was unheard of on the previous five speed gearbox.
Once you are in the saddle, lowered to 790 mm from the previous height of 805, you'll discover how the new saddle-handlebar-footpegs triangulation transmits the pleasant sensation of being in the bike and not on top of it like with the previous version.
The new riding position also allows you to fully enjoy the changes made to the chassis which, thanks to the new lower and farther forward position of the engine, have made it more communicative and efficient in demanding riding.
The rear axle has also been re-stabilised, increasing suspension negative travel by lowering the cardan final drive output 50 mm. This now allows greater tyre grip during load transfer, both in braking and direction changes.
Sure, the V7 II is not a bike designed to break track records, but even in that situation it is faster now than the previous version and then its direct competitors.

    V7 II STONE.
    Eclectic and essential, the .
They are all satin finishesnew frame, built with more aesthetic welding where brilliant paintwork has been applied to enhance the ingenious architecture.
The rest of the bike, from the mirrors to the shock absorbers, from the mudguards to the wheels and even the side panels is dominated by black, now also extended to the tail light assembly and the new brake and clutch levers. This is a look that enhances the chromium on the silencers, the instrument cluster profile, the shock absorbers and even the tight finning of the engine's aluminium cylinders.
The technical characteristic that differentiates the V7 Stone from her big sisters is the lightweight alloy wheel rims, a unique modern concept on a decidedly vintage design.

V7 II SPECIAL. (S3) and inspired by the famous 1975 V750 S3. Following this graphic concept, the V7 II now has three glossy colour bases: classic black with orange stripes to faithfully revisit the colours of its famous ancestor and two brand new schemes on metallic red and light blue with a silver stripe.
The tank on both bears the historic embossed logo and the wheels, spoked with lightweight alloy rim channels, are also done in black finish instead of chrome. As with the Stone, the Special also has a new frame that stands out, besides for the different engine and shock absorber mounting distances, for an improved finish in terms of welding and paintwork, as well as for the redesigned black brake and clutch levers and the new rear light cluster. Unlike the Stone and the Racer, the V7 Special has a fork stanchion protector instead of the dust boots that are fitted on the other models in the range.

    V7 II RACER.
Manufactured in limited edition as the celebratory plate located on the upper steering yoke indicates, the V7 II Racer confirms the previous model's equipment and features when the total-black look was introduced on the side panels, mirrors, silencer brackets and footpeg guards in contrast with the bright 22 litre chromium fuel tankThe single seat saddle is also back (although a two-up saddle and passenger footpegs are available on request), covered in Alcantara and Skai to match the leather strap personalised with the Moto Guzzi logo that decorates the crest of the tank.
The red frame is still spectacular, itself inspired by the legendary first V7 Sport series with CrMo frame and the result of a special painting treatment extended to the hubs, wheels and swingarm as well, which accentuates the architectural purity of the frame. Moto Guzzi is also written in red where it appears on the wheels, exactly like the most recent California Custom.
Exemplary Guzzi styling is clear in the tail fairing and tiny Plexiglas top fairing above a race number panel which is reminiscent of the front of the legendary Gambalunga. This unequivocally sporty element is in perfect harmony with the front mudguard design. Staying in the driver's seat, other new features are represented by the brake and clutch levers, redesigned in order to achieve better ergonomics, whereas at the rear you can see the black tail light assembly as on all the V7 II models.
One of the most distinctive features of this special-edition is the widespread use of anodized matt black and drilled aluminium. This hand-crafted treatment, which requires superb artisan skill, characterises the side panels, the throttle body guards and the silencer mounting brackets.
Other premium components include the aft-mounted footpegs machined from solid billets, the lightened steering stem and the steering yoke guard consisting of a double chromed ring, which is so exquisitely crafted that it looks like an ornamental feature.
A particularly gratifying feature, not only in terms of aesthetics, but also because of their dynamic performance, is the presence of Bitubo WMY01 shock absorbers with spring preload adjustment in rebound and compression thanks to a twelve-setting adjustment knob.
This is a bike made to be ridden strictly one-up, in black leathers, with a skullcap helmet and leather studded palm gloves.

THE ENGINEERING OF THE MOTO GUZZI V7 II: ANDREA BENEDETTO, PIAGGIO GROUP TWO-WHEEL PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR.

Although in terms of aesthetics it maintains its unmistakeable and successful style, this brand new V7 generation has a range of new features that change it profoundly in terms of technical content, so much that it can be called the second generation of a product which from the time it was introduced has found favour with those seeing a motorcycle that provides riding pleasure, user-friendliness and the pride of owning an object that embodies the style and elegance values of Italian bikes.

The gearbox is completely new, now with six speeds. This is an extremely sturdy and reliable unit that has allowed spacing to be varied, bringing the first and last two ratios closer, thereby reducing the drop in rpm between one gear and the next. It is a gearbox that maximises riding comfort thanks in part to a softer clutch that engages more easily and more precisely.
Moto Guzzi has always been one of the most attentive brands to safety, from the time that the first manufacturers were fitting double discs on their bikes or implementing integral braking systems as standard equipment. Now, on the V7 II, the ABS and MGCT (Moto Guzzi Controllo Trazione) systems are introduced. The braking system becomes a benchmark in its category thanks to the two-channel ABS system, new brake master cylinders and sintered pads. The MGCT system, which draws from Moto Guzzi's experience with the California 1400, reading the differential slippage between the two wheels, acts on the injection system, cutting power and proving to be an essential aid in poor grip situations. So the V7 II is more and more of a transversal bike, suited for less experienced riders thanks to the new safety systems, as well as more seasoned bikers who are looking for riding pleasure in timeless style.
The new Moto Guzzi V7 II embodies the important heritage of one of the most popular models in the extraordinary history of this glorious all-Italian motorcycle brand and offers a completely revamped riding experience to further reinforce the presence of the "Eagle Brand" on the market."

ORIGINAL MOTO GUZZI V7 II ACCESSORIES: AN EVER-WIDENING RANGE.
The birth of the V7 II marks a significant turning point in the Moto Guzzi accessories range. In fact, the "Eagle Brand" introduces a wide range of accessories dedicated to the "V7 family" on the market. In fact, simultaneously with the Moto Guzzi V7 II commercial launch more than 60 brand new accessories will be available to allow a totally unique level of personalization. In addition to the vehicle accessories line, which will now be in excess of 90 different items with these important new products, from the beginning of 2015 there will also be brand new helmets as well as technical and lifestyle apparel to complete a 100% 'Made in Guzzi' style.
Another extremely important aspect was the design and development of each part in order to guarantee and maintain the vehicle's original functional characteristics, obtaining a personalised and entirely original vehicle which is at the same time perfectly compatible with the basic version.

To facilitate the orientation and the choice of the most impassioned V7 customers, four new "reference worlds" were identified, in other words, four kits within which each Guzzista will be able to find his or her own personal taste and customisation formula whilst still leaving a vast range of possibilities for creating their own tailor-made V7, choosing from within the entire range.

DARK RIDERSCRAMBLER: this is the kit that transforms your Moto Guzzi V7 II into a bike that is perfectly suited for use on the road, but with an offroad look and a strong personality. 18 accessories to give your V7 a completely different image and profile. Chromium aluminium is replaced by a "satin finish" aluminium with exclusive and high quality details. The long satin finish mudguards, the satin finish number plates and the satin finish guards constitute the first step closer to the "scrambler" world. The high two-in-one exhaust, the knobby offroad tyres, the handlebar cross brace, the offroad footpegs and the long '70s style vintage saddle are the core elements that complete the V7's transformation to the scrambler version. An extra touch of personality thanks to the tool bag and the handmade leather side panniers.

LEGEND: another immersion into Guzzi history interpreted in a modern key. In the '40s the Moto Guzzi Alce, a bike used by the Italian Army, was characterised by its reliability, sturdiness and great flexibility. The configuration that can be achieved with the Heritage components allows you to reinterpret that fascinating legend. A dark satin finish high "two-in-one" silencer, knobby tyres and olive green fuel tank, side fairings and mudguard provide strong and unique connotations to the bike's look. The high handlebar cross brace, the black luggage rack, the long saddle (comfortable for 2 people) and the natural leather side bag complete and enhance this configuration which stems more than any other from the Moto Guzzi heritage.

DAPPERleitmotiv of the project is to enhance the '70s era through the creation of polished aluminium accessories (mudguards, injector covers, guards, number plates) and accessories such as the low handlebar and the single-seat saddle that convey an attractive riding set-up derived directly from the racing world. Some of the exclusive accessories are the exclusive handlebar mirrors with a vintage design reinterpreted in a modern and current key.

Already well known since it was launched with the previous V7 model year is the RECORD kit formula: a name that brings to mind the Moto Guzzi V7 prototype that broke 19 speed records in the early '70s. The shape of the components in the kit are reminiscent of the aerodynamic solutions which were so typical of the '70s era racer. The kit includes a rounded top fairing that houses the V7's single headlight, characterised by side profiles that connect to the fuel tank area and a saddle that includes the single-seat tail fairing, shaped to form a spoiler at the end. The sporty seating position is made of a special dual-component foamy material which is both fire retardant and waterproof. It has form memory and top shelf technology derived directly from the competition world. The components are made in fibreglass and they comply with approval standards. They are easy to install, thanks to the fixing brackets (for the top fairing) in laser cut, sanded steel. The Record kit is available for both the Stone and the Special with the addition of the semi-handlebar kit.

All of the elements that make up the various configurations will be available for purchase individually in order to further exploit the customer's imagination and creativity. They will be available on the market from January 2015. Another particularly important aspect is that the elements can be used both on the new V7 II which has just been introduced and on the first generation Moto Guzzi V7 which is already on roads all over the world. In fact, the new accessories will allow those who have already owned a Moto Guzzi for a few years to change the look of their bikes, renewing it and thereby entering the world of special bikes easily and simply.

A THOUSAND DETAILS TO MAKE THE V7 II UNIQUE.

Not only customisation kits, but a vast range of accessories that allow the customer to personalise his or her V7 and make it more compatible with their own aesthetic tastes and needs.
SEMI-HANDLEBAR KIT: available for Stone and Special, this kit lowers the riding position, making it just like the V7 Racer. It includes the accelerator control cables and the dedicated front brake lines.
TWO-SEATER KIT: made for the Racer, this kit includes everything needed to make the bike a two-seater.
SINGLE-SEAT SADDLE: single-seat saddle to set up the bike in racer mode.
RACING SLIP-ON EXHAUST KIT: made in collaboration with Arrow, the kit is comprised of a pair of polished steel silencers, not approved for use on public streets. The conical shape is reminiscent of the competition silencers that V7 bikes in the '70s era factory derivative races mounted. They install on the factory manifold without making any modifications, using the original supporting mountings and brackets. No specific engine ECU mapping is required and they guarantee a significant reduction in weight, as well as improved performance in the mid-range and at maximum power, providing more responsive acceleration and a much sportier sound.
SINGLE-SEAT EXHAUST MOUNTING KIT: these are two mountings made from high quality anodized aluminium which replace the factory supports, thereby allowing the passenger footpegs to be eliminated, making the bike a single-seater (Stone and Special).
BITUBO SHOCK ABSORBERS KIT: this pair of Bitubo shock absorbers with separate gas bottle has been designed specifically for the V7 and its particular needs. They are have adjustable hydraulic spring preload in rebound and compression. Thanks to the possibility of personalised calibration they are able to guarantee greater comfort and better rideability, as well as standing out with a truly unique look.
ALUMINIUM SIDE FAIRINGS KIT:TOP FAIRING KIT: this kit includes a moulded, unpainted plastic top fairing and aluminium brackets as well as the mounting hardware.
FUEL TANK COVER KIT: these are two soft rubber covers that are applied on the sides of the fuel tank where the rider's knees rest in order to increase riding comfort.
MOTORCYCLE COVER: this is made in black scratch resistant fabric and is enhanced by the Moto Guzzi logo on both sides.
TOURING WINDSHIELD KIT: this is designed to provide greater aerodynamic protection without compromising the attractive aesthetics of the V7. It is type-approved to the strictest standards (DOT and TUV) and road tested in all weather conditions by Moto Guzzi test riders.
CENTRE STAND: this is another component designed and engineered to comply with the strictest safety and endurance standards. It is made in cataphoresis-treated and powder-coated steel to make it impervious to weather conditions.
INJECTOR COVERS KIT: these are made in aluminium and provide protection of the injectors area from accidental contact with the rider's knees.
SIDE PANNIERS KIT: this is comprised of two 20 litre capacity rigid nylon panniers. The bags are covered in genuine waterproof leather and have chromium steel buckles. The kit includes the high resistance steel mounting frames and a pair of removable internal bags.
LUGGAGE RACK KIT: this valuable item serves two important purposes: on one hand it is a luggage rack and on the other it provides a solid hold thanks to the two built-in handles. This accessory is made of high resistant steel, TIG welded and subsequently chromium plated. It mounts in place of the original passenger grab handles.
SET-BACK FOOTPEG KIT: the set-back (or aft-mounted) footpegs are derived from the standard equipment pegs on the Racer version and they provide a more sporty riding position. They are made of anodized aluminium and the kit includes all the mounting hardware (for V7 Stone and Special).
RACING SLIP-ON EXHAUST KIT FOOTPEG BRACKET: these are supports with built-in footpegs which allow the V7 racing slip-on exhaust kit to be installed without giving up the bike's original two-up configuration (for Stone and Special).
TOP BOX BAG: this attaches to the dedicated luggage rack with belts and is made of genuine waterproof leather. It can be easily transported thanks to the rear handle.
TANK COVER: tank cover band in waterproof genuine leather, featuring handy pocket and hole for refuelling. Fastens on with 2 screws under the tank rear edge, by removing the saddle, and a front belt.
TANK BAG: nylon and waterproof genuine leather tank bag featuring 2 side pockets and an upper map holder. Fastened with quick hook-ups to the tank cover which can remain mounted on the tank thanks to refuelling hole, it is easily disconnected and transportable using the handle.
SEMI-RIGID PANNIERS KIT COMPLETE WITH MOUNTING BRACKETS: thanks to a 42 litre cargo capacity, this pair of semi-rigid panniers is ideal for those who do not want to give up transporting items on their V7. Made in technical Skai, they easily hook onto the brackets that are included in the kit. The reflective profiles also increase nocturnal visibility.
COMFORT GEL SADDLELOWERED COMFORT GEL SADDLE:NOT JUST BIKE ACCESSORIES.
The new personalisation accessories round out the innovations presented at EICMA which will be available in 2015: a line of helmets which are completely new in terms of design and technical and aesthetic characteristics, all of which prominently display the Eagle Brand logo that embodies motorcycling passion, Italian style and a rich heritage of sport and industrial success. Alongside the helmets there will also be a new line of vintage leather and fabric jackets, as well as technical gloves in line with Moto Guzzi style that allow you to exploit and enhance your riding experience and sense of belonging to the world of Mandello bikes.

    MOTO GUZZI AND CUSTOMIZERS.
Confirmation that the Moto Guzzi V7 constitutes an extraordinary platform for customisation also stems from the enthusiasm with which the greatest "unique bike" artists in the world have always taken on transformations of Guzzi models into special magazine cover works of art. At the Milan EICMA 2014 show four of the most important European preparers and customizers have been invited to present their tributes to Moto Guzzi by creating as many unique versions.
This important initiative that Moto Guzzi has organised is just the first step in a strategic outline aimed at a progressive and continuous expansion of available accessories and the possibilities for personalisation, all associated with a painstaking eye for detail, quality, the great Moto Guzzi heritage and typical "Made in Italy" taste.
