        • The Passion Hunt India Roadtrip : RoaRendezvous: Ride to Gudalur and back

Ride to Gudalur and back with Passion Hunt Team
          April 10 2009

I had wished earlier that I could welcome the team when they come to my city and I was lucky enough to be in Bangalore when they were planning to ride in. I had called up Sunny to check on his whereabouts and informed him of my plan to meet the team on the ride from Ooty to Bangalore.

The idea was simple, I start early from Bangalore, meet them somewhere in between and ride back together. I knew that they would be starting a bit easy since they would need time to stop and get some snaps on the way. So I let them know I will be meeting somewhere around Gudalur.

So I started before sunrise on the empty roads towards Mysore highway. Soon I was on the highway and I had company of gamut of vehicles jostling for space on the road. I still could maintain decent pace till I reached Mysore. The roads thereafter were two laned and there were some bad patches too.

I had actually made the Passion hunt team change the routes based on my recommendations, so I made sure to take note of all bad patches so that it would be OK for the R1 to ride through it. Other than some 5kms patch near Gundlupet the rest was not so bad.

Knowing that I was ahead of decided time, I took a couple of breaks in the Mudumalai forests clicking some photographs. Soon after I reached Gudalur checkpost I tried calling Sunny to get updates on their location. Hmm, I was not sure if it was my phone or the signal there, I could hardly get throughto them. So I decided to cross Gudalur town and try again.

This time I called some 5kms past Gudalur, the boys were resting next to some lake about 10kms ahead. I decided to get some more miles on the odo rather than wait for them to reach me. They had actually picked a nice spot to rest. A nice lake with roads winding around it, it was quite a picturesque location.

After a nice chat on the banks of the lake we started off. The guys were in a mood for some light refreshments, so stopped over for authentic Ooty tea. It was a pretty straight forward ride from here till we reached the TN-Karnataka border for a break. Most of the pictures attached here are from the same place (Masinagudi).

After a couple of stops we reached the Mysore highway, it was getting late and the evening traffic had started on the highway. We had decided to make another stop on the highway for food. This time we stopped at the Kamat Lokaruchi. After having a sumptuous dinner we head over to Bangalore. I had an issue with my headlights, so I had to tail the Yamahas till I got into Bangalore.

Well that's all folks, nothing much else to talk about. Let the pictures show you how it was.

          • This is a pleasant surprise Sree. And almost out of the blue.
Brings back fond memories of this scenic ride and many others apart from it. Thanks.

            PS:
I had an issue with my headlights, so I had to tail the Yamahas till I got into Bangalore.
Now who tailed who through dusk and darkness there eh! None knows the 'bat-vision' equipped red ZMA rider as we do!!
I don't let my motorcycles interfere with my motorcycling...
