One little correction there... we did that together in the winter of 2007 and not 2006! It was last winter.Originally posted by simba_smiles View Postmy ride to narkanda and hatu in the winter of 2006 was the 1st ever hill tour that i had experienced on 2 wheels.
i was riding vivek's raid-modified-ZMA with pillion, and had vivek on his ninja, and ken on his R1 as company. and needless to say, it was a breathtaking experience.
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

We completed the ride almost incident free. Reached back home at 10.30PM yesterday thanks to a small mishap with a Karizma and the unending lineup of truckies at the Azadpur crossing. All in all in was a great learning experience taking superbikes to 10,000+ ft. Odo stood at 970 kms odd for the round trip ride. Ride report with pictures coming soon.
meanwhile a couple of pictures from day 3:

@yamracing: you a Hatu native by any chanceOriginally posted by yamracing View PostReferring to the hills and pond picture, Isnt that the pond enroute Hattu peak mandir, that comes on the left side?
Your photography skills are freaking awesome sunny!
. Gotcha!!
After taking the pics, we were joking about starting a guessing game....guess where?? type. Glad we didn't. With the likes of you around, the game would have fallen flat on its face.
For the rest...this pic was taken somewhere near the Yukon River - Alaska

oldfox : i love traveling. Infact, during the old xbhp days, i had been reading every single touring article here, specially the Himalayan ones. I had to register here at the new xbhp as without logging, i couldnt read all the posts
Someday, i shall be up there in the hills too

Of the 70 odd kms between Simla and Narkanda, 20 is good and the rest from bad to terrible. Simla - Kufri really bad after Dalli. Theog - Matiana again terrible. Bits and patches ok inbetween. Narkanda - Hatu is fine. Narrow as ever but clean.Originally posted by setuniket View PostI was there in Narkanda/Hatu in the 1st week of October. Hows the road condition now?

OldFox saab,
There are very few places on that route where that pic can be taken. Its a no brainer really.
But seriously, having been there twice, I could never imagine the same quality of pic ever
I cna't even photoshop the damn thing!
