  • kTm Mumbai Orange Day 2.0 (2013)

Calvin has done the text part along with the clicks, so I won't be adding much except for one grouch that I had with the final race.

Chit based start was an amateur move and what's more they announced the race to be an 8 lap one but waved the chequered flag at the end of the 6th lap!
Other than that I did not have any other qualms. Waiting in the sun is part and parcel of these events for now until we come up with a better location idea.

Also had some other friends who were racing. Mohsin Memon and not Monish like the MC kept wrongly shouting, is an American colleague from work (no. 27). He finished 2nd in the quarter finals for Group C but came 4th in the semi-finals. And of course the pro Malcolm Ilavia from Performance Racing Store(no. 50). He finished 4th in the Finals due to the flag getting waved early.

Had fun overall. Was great to meet Calvin and Himanshu Paralkar after a long time. calvin won the media race and that was absolutely awesome news. Sadly I wasn't around when he was racing. They both participated and am proud of them for that.

Hope y'all like the pics. More coming through. Still have a long way to go in sport photography.

    Do leave your valuable comments.

    Orange Day V-2.0 Mumbai

    Hello everyone,

What an amazing weekend it was at the "ORANGE DAY V-2.0". The day started with a gathering of 15 odd Dukers of Navi-Mumbai at Vashi Showroom, and we started off for the venue after a small briefing from Mr. Praful (From KTM). It took no time, and there were 35+ Dukers Painting the city Orange from Eastern Express Highway till Inorbit Mall, Malad.

It all started with a pm from Sunil Gupta, seeking if I'm interested in Representing as xBhp official media and participate in the Media Round Race and I was there at the event with all access to the venue (wearing the Media tag) :P.

As we arrived at the Venue, everyone got busy - getting themselves registered for the race, clicking pictures of the Bikes/Chicks, Getting their Bikes ready/Tuned up at the Service Camp. After the Registrations were over there was a small briefing on Racing Techniques and Tips.

And after that, the atmosphere was so pumped up with lots of action going on the race track. There were 2 group races Naming Group A and Group B. After the Qualifying Rounds for both the Groups, the Final Rounds were organized. Winners of which were - Mr. Sher Bahadur (Group A) and Mr. Sachin Kangle (Group B). KTM also organized a special race for the Media guys. And guess who won, ME (Representing xBhp)!! And NO, I wasn't the only one Racing, there were guys from Motoroids, DNA, ZEE news, ZIG-Wheels, and many more.

Soon after the Media Race, there was a Race called Champion Vs Challenger, in which winners of Orange Day V-2.0 takes on the champions of Orange Day V-1.0. The winner of this round was none other than Mr. Sachin Kangle a.k.a RiderBoy from Navi-Mumbai. which he celebrated in style... Real style.. popping Wheelies & Endos.. Drifting.. yes you heard it right, DRIFTING. Well.. Being a Freestyle Stunt-Rider, his Key to win the race was ability to handle the bike so nicely, that he was actually drifting all the way in and out the corners. after the Victory celebration RiderBoy quoted "I'm a freestyle Stunt-Rider and this is my first attempt at the Race. Now, you all might be thinking.. why into racing? I just want people to know, that, freestyle stunt riding is not just fooling around with the bike, it's more technical than that, which improves ones ability to handle the bike with ease".

Later, they (KTM) unveiled the SX-F 350, a Motocross bike (which is not going to be on sale, "as of now" and would only be on display at selected showrooms across India). Therefore, its not a street legal bike. The only place you can ride it is "off the street", but isn't that the reason they built it? So, even if they do launch this bike here in India, it is going to be FUN to Ride. Now, the serious plans - All those who have been waiting for the new "DUKE 390", your wait is OVER. The 390 Duke is going to hit the showrooms in less than 4 months, which will be priced less than 2.5 L (so, Hold onto your savings). And they also have plans to launch an all new RC8 based Smaller bike, what i could sniff out of the discussion is - Its going to be powered by a 250cc heart (so, if you haven't been planning/saving up for a new bike, this is a good time to "START SAVING").

After unveiling the upcoming plans, they Felicitated the Winners, followed by which, there was an amazing Freestyle Stunt-Riding Show Performed by Biju and Prashant from a professional stunt riding team known as "Throttlerz" from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

Note: will be putting up more images... so stick around!

PS: This is my First ever Write-up for an event/ride. So, pardon me for any noob mistakes. Corrections/Suggestion are welcome.

    Thanks,
    Ride Safe..
