Installed Joel's air filter the other day. The first think that stuck me is that the bike feels much smoother than before. This could also be because my earlier filter was a bit clogged at 10k kms. Also, it now revs more effortlessly and the throttle response has sharpened a bit. Other than that, it sounds exactly the same as stock. All in all, there is a definite improvement with the air filter.

The replacement airfilter gives the r15 an instant 0.5hp gain at the wheel and improves throttle response and overall efficiency to a good extent. Yet saving the costs of replacing a filter for life.

Raced head to head with another R15 on the relatively free elevated highway. We were both equal upto around 115-118 kmph. Both of us were slowing down around traffic and accelerating when conditions permitted. Both of us were not crouched. Only difference being, he was riding single and I was riding with a pillion.

        Is it even possible Joel?

^your weight and with a pillion, matching an R15 with a single rider is some news for you, isnt it? Ring ring!!

Well, that's what I observed. And the guy was parallel to me for quite a distance. Maybe, I ride better than that guy!

I have given to many, but nobody bothers to update. There is a good diff in torque and response. This one works well within the ECU tolerances.

                    Hi Joel,

I have put in the stock K&N air filter in my ninja and have run it for a lil over 2k kms.

When i revv the bike in neutral and let go of the throttle, there is a very slight popping sound.

Do you think my engine is running dangerously lean?

^Lean. you need a stock replacement filter and not a universal one.

                        Hey Joel ,

I installed your bore last week . Gains are good but still in the run-in period so can't exploit the bike fully ! I changed back to the stock filter from the K&N RC-1060 on your suggestion and the bike's seems restricted ! is it cause of the filter ? do i need to get a stock replacement one ?

                        Thanks,
                        Balaji
Stock is boring , power is everything .

Most refer to conical airfilters for your fuel injected R15 and Ninja, but they massively disturb the MAP sensor and the mixture goes dangerously lean. Killing power and also engine life.

                              @joel, +1 to that.
you have an example of that in my case remember, full ceased block and oil in the conical air-filter.
BTW the SImota filter seems very smooth and gives such a space age feel when the bike is revved.

Waaay to go Joel the wizard \m/
