  • Best Auxilary lights for motorcycle

    Hello there,

I was looking for best budget aux lights for touring purpose.
I've tried and used variety of cheap LED aux lights we can see online and also spare part shops like karol bag or nana peth.
being cheap quality they dont last long and they throw very poor light.

There are better quality lights available from brands like Bajadesigns, KC HiLights, Piaa, Lightforce, Denalli etc. but they come at a cost.

    my requirements,

    1) budget below 8k
    2) LED or Halogen any would do.
    3) Light throw must be long and focused for high speed night riding. AKA spot beams
    4) driving lights for better spread
    5) should come with manufacturer warranty

I've bought HELLA knight rider pair which is actually car fog lights with H4 halogen but I'm retrofitting them on bike.
Dealer advised me to buy this as it gives better throw and spread.Ccosts 3800 for a pair at Nana Peth, Pune.

Another I was looking for LED lights for my 2nd bike Dominar,
    Again Hella,

Does anyone have used these lights before?
I need a review for these lights.

    Looking for suggestions.
    TIA.

What Bike do youhave? AC or DC setup? What is your current headlight specification,Wattage?
LED has already proven its worth but they come for a premium. You can definitely have good LED aux lights for the budget but finding them isdifficult. I have converted my bike to fully DC setup with alternator producingupto 120 watts of current, which supports D2S 55w HID setup in a full fledgedHella G3 Projector installed in main headlight. It has legal High/ Low, andDamn wide uniform beam pattern with proper cut-off and equally good long throwof High beam. Think it of as a 150w Halogen bulb with 4500k Output. Overall, Iam fully satisfied with it and happily rides on highway at 90 KMPH around 1 to6 am.

If your bike is fully DC, I suggest you to once check XenonPlanet website/ FB/ Insta page and look for XP Micro Projectors. It is aBixenon Clear Lens projector which can be installed inside headlight withlittle or No modification or on Leg guard as they are fully sealed projectors. They come with warranty and I guess after service support is also good. Oneunit of XP micro will fall good under your budget and I think you will besatisfied with only a single unit ( >100w halogen anyday).

Note- I am not sponsoring XP, neither I have purchased anyproducts from them. I read Team BHP, Gearheads reviews of Headlights mods so Iknow these things. For me, HID is still anyday better then LED when installedinside projector housing.

I have hero impulse now and using 4 led aux lights now.
Supply is AC as its hero Motocorp.
Okay I'll check xenonplanet as you suggested. One of my friend installed KTM RC's projectors on his Duke as an aux units and they look awesome.

            Whats not cleared?
You were looking for best AUx lights for night time riding for your bike and have already tested various LED lights and looking for suggestions? Right?
So I suggested you to check Xenon planet Website for their products. "XP MICRO" is the name of a HID sourced Bixenon projector which acts as high and low beam both. It is better then any LED aux lights and also comes with 2 year warranty.

I also suggest you to convert to Full DC for your Impulse. It will definitely be an Investment which give you trouble free light for rest of the life is DCed job is done well. You can go through "Pulsar DC conversion thread" to know how to convert AC bikes to DC. I have also converted mine (Discover 135s).
Only then you can enjoy the benefits of HID projectors as they are more like proper headlights - much better then AUX lights.

Whereas KTM RC projectors are halogen projectors, each one for different beam and use halogen light source. HID Bixenon uses a single but more complicated housing which gives outstanding results. The one I have sourced from scrap yard for 200 rupees and is of BMW.
            Have a look-

Mobile camera always gives less exposure. The light is almost 40% more in practical. The clear lens projector that I mentioned is even more bright but at the end of the day, You have to switch to full DC in order to get max out of your HL.

Re: Best Auxilary lights for motorcycle

KTM RC projectors on Duke Looks very good but I wonder how its alternator power 3 x 55w bulbs same time. Surely the amount of light would be very high and it can be further increased with 35w H11 HID bulbs inside those projectors.
The aftermarket projectors I was talking about are similar to those of RC but are proper bixenons and takes only xenon light source (H11 or H8 I guess) and may light upfront to a whole new level. The only problem or Characteristics with your impulse is its AC setup. Similar stuff on Dominar or KTM or any other 3 phase electrical system equipped bike would run everything fine.
How do you power those 4 x AUX leds on your impulse? Separate battery? What is their total power consumption or load on bike excluding Main headlight?

                    No. Nothing modified in electricals.
                    All stock on my impulse.
The top rectangular led lights are 18+18 watt and the round ones are 20 watt each .. so 76 watt total apart from stock headlight bulb.
And trust me they are there for more than 2 years now and so far no issue like battery down or starting problems.

Re: Best Auxilary lights for motorcycle

Wow. I have underestimated Hero power generation system but as per your words, It is working well apart from powering headlight and ignition system. May be Hero provided better, more powerfull alternator in Impulse, being adventure/offroad oriented bike. If you are really sure and actually have measured load in Watts on battery then no need to switch to more complicated DC conversion. If they actually consume this much of current then they are suppose to provide ample amount of light and you wouldn;t have been asking for more.

Most motorcycle manufacturers (even superbikes) gives 60w halogen bulbs or halogen projectors, why don't they just put a proper Bixenon projector in HL units. KTM and dominar also have LED lamps as stock and I have compared them side by side and found my Hella projector to be more then double the brighter/wider/ longer throw of light and that too properly controlled with shield and lens, also consume less power then halogen and last longer comparatively.
Even after market solutions are full of LED aux lights while most of them are just shit.

Sorry for being hell bent towards bixenon tech in your post But I expect logical riders of Xbhp to think smartly. I hate it when RE squids, infact tourers put nonsense free flow silencers and uncontrollable LED lights on their bikes. They should have spent that money on a proper stuff that is meant to provide controllable light properly on road and practically make them eligible to ride at night.

Since you have enough juice in you bike, You can put a proper bixenon projector like Mini D2S or FXR sourced from Indian retailers or Ali-express in you main headlight which also will fall in your budget. You can get more light with better LED AUxs but you can't reach the intensity and uniformity of a Xenon bulb. Meanwhile you can use current LED lights for actual jungle rides.
Still, still, still If you want to go with LED then try to source current generation Toyota Fortuner main Bi-Led Projector - That is some serious stuff.
                      Just my two cents.
                      rest upto you

                        Best Auxilary lights for motorcycle

Was curious about this one.. this is completely sealed HID.
Wanted to ask how significant difference we can see in different wattages.. 35w 45w and 55w
I mean if I'm going to mount it on a bike then what should I prefer to get more light and long distance beam pattern.
Also do H11 bulb comes in Amber light? I.e. 5000k colour temp?
That 12000 MRP is for pair of HID or just a single unit?

Also I will be fitting these on my upcoming dominar which has 12v battery with 236w alternator.
Do I still need to mod alternator ratings or it'll will be fine for those 2 HIDs.

                        TIA.

                              Yes that will be helpful.
You guys are in Pune ?
That HID light throw looks brilliant but I wanted to install separate bixenons on my bike which will operate from regular high/low button of the bike.
