      and is it 7k kms or miles ?? cause the speedo is in miles.. depreciation is according to the number of years,then comes bike condition,then the bike run milage,etc..
      also check all the documents,cause with out them ,it's worthless.. somethink around 2l would be done as i heard 600's are comin to india in the price range of 5.5l...
      and before u buy,get a proper mech to check the bike..last but not least - if i were u,i would go and buy a ninja 250r in black

        If the papers are clean and the bike is in a good mechanical condition then why not? You already have the spare part expertise thanks to the Comet and there is no 600 coming here for the forseeable future, I think you should go for this.

          4Lakh should be a little too much right?iv heard about R1's and R6's going around for 5-6.5 lakh range here in Kerala.
          id say 2-2.5 or MAX 3 is a good price...btw is the ODO in KM or Miles?

            Here the buyer has upper hand not the seller.
            its a sellers market in india for these exclusive bikes. Rules of depreciation applicable to bikes world over are not applicable to these bikes in India.
            Its a very unique market.
            Even when buying a legal litre class from a showroom the buyer can never call the shots.
            My 2 cents for whatever they r worth here !

              @Tanay
              like u said.., spares wont b an issue bro... learnt a lot by sourcing the comet spares from korea..!!

              @Dogg @RanjithMN
              An excellent point bro... its actually in miles not in kms... how did i miss that? lol.. the babes beauty n performance might have blinded me.. :P lol n abt buying a ninja 250r, i dont think its a better decision for a power enthusiast like me... coz am already using a comet gt250 n i dont think going for a ninja 250r will make a big difference

                @sri

                Dump all this and get a rd350 fully pimped. Why take a risk? RD would satisfy ur hunger for power. wait for a few months or a yr and go for a leagal sbk/600cc mopeds

                    Sri, Have a look at the amount of duties paid and then decide the price. With full duties and clear papers you are looking at around 3.25-3.5L for this bike.
                    You mentioned tis a first owner bike. Is it in your friends name? Usually what happens is a bike goes through 4-5 hands and still remains in the 1st owners name. The current owner tells the prospective buyer that his friend Mr.x (x= last registered owner) left the bike with him to sell as he had to go out of town for a coupla months.
                    If this bike isnt abused, you are looking at a no problem every day bike. You'll just have to service it like a normal bike and it wont throw any surprises at you!

                    OnlineSatish, you cannot compare a proper 4st 600 to a tricked out RD. The katana is a smarter choice here. Although cheaper, you'll never get the overall power and reliability that the katana offers!

                    Sudipta, its not a difficult task to source spares or service a bike thats outta production. Practically all the Katana parts are still available and will be for many years to come.
                    Whenever i needed parts for an obsolete 97 900rr, i just had to make a phone call and the parts wuld be sent to me overnight or in 5 days time at the max!!

                    Cheers!

                      Good going and all the best Sri.

                      The Katana being an air/oil cooled bike, you dont have to worry about cracked radiators/pipes or changing coolant etc. Anyways, its better you select the right engine oil for the bike after consulting a good oil expert. I think the Castrol GTX 20/50 should be a good choice.
