  • Superbike service at KRP Delhi - Bad Experience

    Hi Guys,

Wanted to share a bad experience at KRP Delhi yesterday - took my Hayabusa for a rear tyre change, fork servicing and general service to KRP. When I got it back late in the evening, the bike was running like crap - and a lot of black exhaust fumes. I was told that this was due to all the 'super' cleaning they had done - and the bike now needed a throttle body sync and maybe some engine work to get it right - this when I had given the bike running fine to them in the morning. Not convinced, I got the bike home and decided to work on it myself the next day.

Well this morning I got down to figure out the issue. Took me a whole day of help from hayabusa.org to figure out that the geniuses at KRP had wrongly left the vaccum line from the throttle body open - they connected the line from the vaccum sensor to the atmospheric pressure sensor - when its supposed to be connected to the throttle body grid. Made the changes and instantly the bike started running as before - no issues with black exhaust smoke or misfiring.

Turns out that they did this huge mistake when performing a very simple and routine task - cleaning out the air filter as the vaccum sensor is attached to the air filter body.

Needless to say - KRP is not getting any more business from me - they just cannot be trusted!! Not aware of their reputation here - just wanted to post this out for others to make their own decisions.

Well KRP you gonna lose some customers.Well happy to see the problem has been solved.
Damn! Internet make or break your business.

I guess you shouldnt have left the SVC,you should have been there.
I read somewhere that GS never leaves his bike and oversees the servicing of his Thor.

KRP guys sound experienced, but the people who actually work on the bikes may or may not follow any procedure...
As long as your motorbike's company is giving service, you should stick to them.

@haxor - point well taken. would not repeat the mistake again.

@fireblah - one of the co owners of KRP worked on the bike (the one who didn\'t is Vijay -not sure about the name of the one who worked on the bike.) That\'s why the discovery surprised me even more - given their years of experience with superbikes.

This is my 2nd busa and I know my way around the bike pretty well. The reason I had the KRP guys do the servicing this time was so that it could be coupled with the other tasks - rear tire change and the front fork service. Lesson learnt -will be doing all my maintenance from now on and get the required equipment for the other tasks as well.

thanks - hope this info helps others out there as well.

@worrisomebear - haven't heard too many good things about the suzuki service center closest to me - owned by bitto bike walla. KRP was the other one I knew of within reach.

I've something running on my mind, which may or may not be related to this incident.

This is a common attitude I see with the servicing people, be it Bajaj, Ducati or Suzuki, no one likes to follow the manufacturer's specification & rules when it comes to fixing or putting back things. End of the day everyone wants to dump something back to customer & run home.

If the manufacturers say, place the washer, ring nut followed by pin lock, most people put up the ring nut followed by washer & pin lock. Don't know what pleasure they find in doing such things.

To me, if the manufacturer says to do step A followed by step B, then, there's a hell a lot of engineering that actually went into it & when they teach it to service guys, it is expected that they actually do it. Most of the times, the root cause for most complicated issues are due to that missing washer or nut.

In this case, it is a clear deviation from manufacturer's specs. These days motorcycles are highly engineered that a single misplaced washer gives most trouble & when do these morons realize that a Busa is not same as servicing 70's Jawa?
