    Re: Best Insurance for SBKs?

Mods please delete this query if I am unnecessarily raising an age old thread but this is the most appropriate one that I could find to post this query.

I am trying to get a nil dep cover for a new Z800 in bangalore.

I am very confused with the sheer number of options in the market and the range of policy costs ! Kawasaki showroom says ICICI but they don't have cashless and are charging around 3K extra for no rhyme or reason..

Can someone lead me the right way ? I am worried about claims. I don't mind shelling out a bit more for easy & accurate claims.
Online reviews have managed to confuse me further.

I have received the following quotations.

New India insurance quoted 10250 for zero dep with towing at IDV = 788500

Oriental Insurance quoted 12500 for the same as above.

    ICICI quoted 21K for IDV = 745000 and 22K for 788500

    ERGO quoted 18K for IDV = 788500

    Bajaj quoted 13K for IDV = 745000

Also, public sectors companies claim that I can claim nil dep claims as many times as I want in a policy year.
Private companies have it limited to 2 claims.

From personal experience, when it comes to Insurance, government run companies are any day better than private companies. Even though at times it can be irritating dealing with sarkaari babus. When it comes to handing out money, private players are at the end of the day looking at bottomline on their balance sheets.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Kawasaki Indiranagar guys are making fuss saying buying Insurance from them is mandatory.

I also told them, I will get a quote from other place and give them. If they have to give insurance, let them do at that price. They are not even ready to accept my NCB certificate

Yes, they tried to do the same thing to me as well. Well, good thing is that they can't legally. Ask them to show that to you in writing with company seal and see how things fall into place. You could just tell them that is not legal or do what I did which was that I dropped in a query asking this at their contact us from their website and they accepted that I could take an insurance of my choice. Even if you take ICICI, take it from their lombard office, you will end up saving around 4-5K easy and, more importantly, not pay over the odds for the same thing. They are just trying to mint you and that, from what I have read till now, is not uncommon for dealerships.

You need to delete some msgs from your profile mate. I cannot send a PM to your questions. Or share your email id to me. More than happy to help.

I was wondering the same as well. Also, I think these lot might be prone to 'chai paani' for getting the repair amount signed off. Though slow, I feel it is safer and easier than to have to fight against these private lots.

I have been using Oriental for 6 years on my R15 but, luckily, never had to claim till date so I am not sure about how their claim process is, especially with high value assets.
