They are so in North East as well.Originally posted by Samy View PostYes sir. I am sure. SV650s is most popular track bike in Bay area of California.
Even I might think of an SV if I ever go for a track only bike. In fact it make a great street bike as well for all the points you made.
Its a twin so easy to work on, tune and cheaper to maintain and modify. Its lighter so great pick up inspite of lower HP. I myself feel I will be faster on a SV on track than my ninja ZX 7r. When I am exiting a corner, I can not be too hard on a throttle (two major turns in my track are very slow) especially in second gear as I ahev spun my rear wheel a lot and hence given me shivers for a highsider.
SV can also can get suspension from the gixxer improving its corner speeds and handling.
Way to go my friend! Nice bike!

That's true. Almost full year. We also have larger number of ppl riding motorcycles. I have twisties pretty close to home and will almost always find somebody to talk about motorcycles when I take a break at popular biker hangouts.
Where are you in the east ?

A few quick thing about riding on the track, what is fast or what is slow, its always the rider and not the bike.. for example, when I started to ride around the MMSC (chennai) track, i would do a lap in a 2:16 on a 2005 ZX6R pushing really hard with a full exhaust system, piggy back ECU, airfliter, shorter gearing and about 5 kgs lighter than a stock bike. A Group C RX135 / Shogun could do the same lap at about 2:07, so I guess the RX aint faster than the 6R but for sure the rider was... and this is always what holds good.
Even when you compare a 600cc to a 1000cc, in todays senario with the 1000cc being as small, light (CBR1000rr 2008 is nearly a few kg heavier than a 2004 600rr) and 400cc of more power you are sure to see a great lap time, now only with the rider is good enough to exploit the bike.
Just my 2 cents, personally tested a SV650 at a track great bike, amazing low end punch, on a good set of tiers turns really fast but runs out of steam quite fast and the other thing is the rear well hops every when you start to down shift agressively without feeding a lot of gas, but loved it compared to the other twins out there...

Agreed. That's why WHENEVER we compare bikes we always assume bikes being ridden by same guy or guys with similar riding skillsOriginally posted by isbkracing View PostA few quick thing about riding on the track, what is fast or what is slow, its always the rider and not the bike.. for example, when I started to ride around the MMSC (chennai) track, i would do a lap in a 2:16 on a 2005 ZX6R pushing really hard with a full exhaust system, piggy back ECU, airfliter, shorter gearing and about 5 kgs lighter than a stock bike. True. We will ALMOST never need the xtra 25 horses of 600CC I4 machine. Smooth power curve and ENOUGH power makes SV650s a real good SBK for us.Originally posted by Harmeet View PostBest track bike or not but Dude bleve me,,,this baby is the most practicle bike for India...a 650 vtwin is way much more usefull than a litre inline 4.
PS: I am back in India and already missing my SV650s.

i agree with you the SV is one of the most practical bikes around.
and the exhaust note is just wicked.
it is so comfortable, that its a bench mark on its own.
am yet to meet a person who has ever owned an SV who has anyting to say against this bike.
lets keep the comaprisons of 2 bikes which were made to do 2 different things under the closet.
great choice of bike samy.......drive safely... if not for you then for the sake of others!!
